For two people who prefer a little breathing space, a Superior Double or Twin Room is the sensible step up from the smaller options. If three people are sharing, choose a room arranged for that rather than trying to conduct a nightly negotiation over who gets the sofa bed. Family rooms are available as well.

Couples who value a private outdoor pause can look at the Double Room with Balcony. It gives you somewhere to sit without turning the bed into the only available chair, which becomes surprisingly important when you are tired, sandy and carrying the general expression of someone who has spent too long in a wetsuit. The Pool Bar works on the obvious principle of drinks beside the water, with cocktails as its speciality. There is no continuous snacking or late dinner service listed, so plan the evening meal around the stated restaurant hours rather than assuming the kitchen will still be waiting when you wander in.

The outdoor pool is the main easy option when you want water without putting a mask on your face. It is large, has a poolside bar and is accompanied by sun loungers; the pool is not heated. A sun terrace and outdoor furniture give you somewhere to dry off properly, while the terrace provides a more sociable place to settle with a book or a drink.

For the muscles that have been negotiating with the current all day, the hotel has a sauna, steam room, spa facilities, a relaxation lounge, massage services and a massage chair. There is also a fitness centre. These are useful choices for a quiet recovery session, although the massage and spa services are separate from simply having a room and a key.

If sitting still starts to feel unnatural, you can arrange bicycle rental, bike tours and walking tours. Kayaking, paddleboarding, snorkelling and boat excursions add some lighter time on the water.
