The db Seabank Resort + Spa is a four-star, all-inclusive resort in Mellieħa, built for holidays where the day can move from the beach to the pool, then on to dinner without much logistical fuss. You get several restaurants, three bars, five pools, a spa and a full programme of entertainment, so you can keep things simple when all you want is a shower, a meal and somewhere to sit down.

English is spoken by the hotel team, alongside French, German and Italian. That matters when you need to sort out a room request, ask about dinner or get practical information about Malta without resorting to international hand signals. The scale is substantial, with 536 rooms, and the atmosphere is geared towards families as well as couples who prefer plenty happening on site.

Marfa Road places you directly beside Mellieha Bay, in the northern Maltese town of Mellieħa. The hotel has direct access to the bay and its white-sand beach, with loungers, umbrellas, showers, changing rooms and a beach bar. Mellieha Bay Beach is about 0.1 miles away, while Ghadira Bay Beach is roughly 0.3 miles on foot.

You are also close to the Ghadira Nature Reserve, around 0.4 miles away. A bus stop outside the hotel connects you with places around Malta, including Valletta, about 15.5 miles away. Malta International Airport is approximately 15 miles away by road, so the northern location is easy enough to reach but not central to the island’s capital.

For food or a change of scenery, The Jungle Restaurant, La Pellicola and Tramun Taghna are each about 0.1 miles away. Starbucks is roughly 0.2 miles on foot, and the 120 Bar is about 1.2 miles away. The sea is the immediate neighbour here; town wandering is a separate decision.

The room choice is mainly about the view and the amount of elbow room you need. Couples can keep things straightforward with a double or twin room, while a sea-view option puts Mellieha Bay into the part of the holiday you see before reaching for your shoes. A terrace with sea view makes more sense if outdoor space matters to you; executive lounge access is available with selected room categories.

For a family group, the family room with inland view offers four single beds, while the quadruple pool-view room combines a double bed with two sofa beds. That is the useful distinction: proper sleeping arrangements for a group, rather than expecting everyone to negotiate a standard couple’s room with luggage scattered across the floor.

Every room has air conditioning, free Wi-Fi, satellite television, a furnished balcony, a refrigerator and tea- and coffee-making facilities. There is also a clothes-drying rack, which is handy for ordinary holiday washing, and a private bathroom with a bath or shower, towels, toiletries and a hairdryer. Accessible rooms have wide doors, an accessible bathroom, a walk-in shower, shower chair and support rails, with lift access to upper floors.

All-inclusive is the operating system here. Breakfast is a buffet from 07:30, with cereals, cold meats, yoghurt, Danish pastries, fruit juice and a full English breakfast; lunch and dinner are also covered in the resort’s restaurants, with wine, beer and other drinks included. A dedicated children’s area sits within the main restaurant, and menus for food allergies and intolerances are available.

Coral is the main indoor, air-conditioned restaurant, serving international buffet meals from breakfast through to dinner, with a daily-changing menu and a view towards Mellieha Bay. The Laguna Pool Restaurant keeps things more relaxed on the terrace, with a late breakfast, lunch and afternoon snack. That snack runs from 16:00 to 17:00, which may be just the right distance from a late lunch or an early evening appetite.

Dinner gives you a choice of themes rather than one buffet repeated until departure: Tex-Mex at The Jungle, Middle Eastern dishes at Levant, Italian food at Salia, Asian cooking at L-Orjent, and Brazilian churrasco at El Rodizio, where meat is carved at the table. Pool Garden BBQ brings Mediterranean grilled meat and fish outdoors when operating. Smart casual dress applies in the indoor restaurants; the pool restaurants are more relaxed.

Three bars cover the main drinking duties. The Sports Bar combines cocktails, beer, several screens for football, rugby, tennis and Formula 1, four retro bowling lanes and finger food. Punent Bar is the lobby cocktail bar, with a terrace facing Mellieha Beach, while Dome Bar sits beside the main pool and serves drinks during the evening shows.

Five pools give you a choice of pace. Laguna Pool is the large outdoor main pool, while the adults-only pool has a swim-up bar and operates from June to the end of September. The heated indoor pool is the sensible retreat when you want warm water without more sun, and two children’s pools include one with a pirate-boat play feature.

Pearl Spas provides adult-only indoor spa facilities, including a hammam, sauna and Jacuzzi, with access included for all-inclusive guests. Massage, facial treatments, body treatments and a spa relaxation area are available when your shoulders need a more persuasive argument than “they will loosen up eventually”. The fitness area has cardio machines and weights, and the resort also offers a hair salon, manicure and beauty services.

Away from the water and spa, you can use the games room, arcade games, table tennis, darts, mini golf, archery and four bowling lanes. Daily live shows, karaoke, games and professional entertainment run through the resort, with activities for both adults and children. A kids’ club, playground, indoor play area and children’s menu make the family arrangements unusually visible rather than an afterthought.

Check-in runs from 15:00 to midnight, and check-out is until 11:00. The front desk operates around the clock, with luggage storage, a tour desk, currency exchange, an on-site cash machine and car hire available. Each room has a reserved parking space, and parking is available on site.

An airport transfer service is available through db Direct, and the bus stop outside the hotel gives you another way to reach Malta’s main sights, including Valletta and the airport. The resort also offers international sockets, a minimarket, Laguna Shopping and The Market, where you can find Starbucks, local products, beach accessories and snacks. Free Wi-Fi covers the hotel.

Children of any age are welcome, and cots can be requested; extra beds are not available. Bank cards are accepted. Pets are not allowed, smoking is restricted to designated areas, and outside food and drinks are not permitted apart from baby food. In the pools, only approved swimming aids are allowed as floats, and pools can close for seasonal maintenance. Accessible rooms and facilities are available, with nursing assistance for personal or medical care.

The resort is certified Green Key and runs its Green Heart initiative. The stated approach focuses on responsible use of resources and protecting the planet, giving the hotel a named environmental framework rather than leaving sustainability as a vague slogan.
