Black Frog Divers

Situated in Torrox Costa on the Costa del Sol, Black Frog Divers provides a gateway to the varied underwater landscapes of the Malaga coastline. The centre is positioned to allow easy access to shallow reef flats for shore diving, as well as deeper sites reachable by boat.

The area is known for its Mediterranean biodiversity, ranging from rocky reefs to sloping walls. Whether you are looking to start your training or are an experienced diver seeking interesting local sites, the centre's location offers a versatile range of environments.

Managed by Sara and Marcin, the centre is run by experienced PADI professionals with over 12 years of experience in the industry. They have trained more than 2,500 students and welcomed over 4,820 clients to their programmes.

The centre operates as a PADI 5 Star facility, maintaining a high standard of instruction and safety. They follow strict hygiene protocols, using specific antibacterial products for the cleaning and maintenance of all rental and personal equipment.

Instruction is available in English, Spanish, Polish, and German. The team maintains a guide-to-diver ratio of maximum 4 divers per guide, ensuring close supervision during guided dives and training sessions.

Black Frog Divers offers a complete spectrum of PADI training. Beginners can start with Discover Scuba Diving or the Bubblemaker programme, progressing through to Open Water Diver and PADI Scuba Diver certifications.

For those looking to advance their skills, the centre provides Advanced Open Water Diver, Rescue Diver, and various PADI Specialty courses. Professional training is also available, including the Divemaster programme and the Instructor Development Course (IDC).

Specialised training includes the Nitrox course, which can be completed as a theory-only session or including in-water practical application. The centre also offers the PADI ReActivate programme to refresh skills for lapsed divers.

The centre is equipped to handle various diving needs, offering Nitrox for divers looking to extend their bottom time. They provide a range of PADI eLearning options, allowing you to complete your theoretical studies online before arriving on site.

For those not bringing their own kit, a full range of rental equipment is available. The centre places a strong emphasis on equipment hygiene, ensuring all gear is thoroughly cleaned and maintained.

The reefs and slopes of the area are home to a diverse array of fish, including lemonfish, stonefish, stargazers, and various species of grouper. You will often see schools of sardines moving through the water, alongside more solitary residents like conger eels and moray eels.

For those interested in larger pelagics, mola-molas are frequently observed, particularly in the early morning or when the water is cooler. Electric rays and octopus also frequent the rocky areas and crevices.

Macro enthusiasts will find plenty to observe, including seahorses, nudibranchs, and various colourful starfish. The seabed is populated by crabs, anemones, and sponges, providing a complex habitat for smaller creatures.

The underwater scenery is enriched by flower corals and large anemones, which provide structure to the reef flats and walls.

The Mediterranean waters in this region vary, with temperatures ranging from 14°C to 29°C. The sites are accessible to all levels, with many locations offering easy shore access or short boat trips.
