Reef Adventures Dive & Tours

Located in San Pedro on Ambergris Caye, Reef Adventures provides access to some of the most significant marine environments in Belize. Since its founding in 2000, the centre has focused on delivering safe, small-group experiences for divers and snorkelers looking to explore the reef system.

From the local reef flats to the deep blue of the Great Blue Hole, the centre operates out of a location just minutes from their pier in San Pedro. Whether you are looking for a morning reef dive or a night dive, the operation is built around the local expertise of the Ambergris Caye diving community.

The centre was founded by Cap'n Ron and local dive master Ched Cabral, bringing over two decades of experience to the operation. As a PADI 5 Star dive centre, they maintain a 100% safety record and focus on providing attentive service to families, couples, and small groups.

All instruction and dive guiding is conducted in English. The team is deeply rooted in the local area, ensuring that trips are tailored to the specific conditions of the Belize Barrier Reef on any given day.

Reef Adventures is a PADI 5 Star centre offering the PADI Open Water Diver course for those beginning their diving journey. Their training programmes are designed to meet international standards while utilising the local reef environment.

The fleet consists of three distinct vessels to accommodate different group sizes and trip types. The Bigga Bubbles is a 30-foot boat powered by twin Yamaha 200HP engines, capable of carrying up to 10 divers or 16 snorkelers.

For smaller outings, the centre operates Bubbles, a 25-foot boat with a Yamaha 200HP engine, and Lil' Bubbles, a 22-foot boat powered by a Yamaha 60HP engine. These boats are used for reef dives, night dives, and longer excursions to sites like the Great Blue Hole or Turneffe Atoll.

The reef is home to a diverse array of larger pelagics and reef dwellers. You will regularly encounter Blacktip reef shark (Carcharhinus melanopterus), Nurse shark (Ginglymostoma cirratum), and various species of Reef shark (Carcharhinus). Larger residents include the Goliath grouper (Epinephelus itajara), Barracuda (Sphyraena), and various Snappers (Lutjanidae).

In the water column and around the reef structure, look for Jack (Carangidae), Spotted eagle ray (Aetobatus narinari), and Southern stingray (Hypanus americanus). Turtles are a common sight, specifically the loggerhead turtles and green turtle.

The reef architecture is built upon a foundation of staghorn corals, barrel sponges, and various Gorgonian (Gorgonacea) species. These provide a complex habitat for smaller residents like Parrotfish (Calotomus), Angelfish (Pomacanthidae), and Garden eel (Gorgasia).
