Parrot Cove Lodge is a small, owner-operated beachfront lodge in Hopkins, with a relaxed atmosphere and personal service rather than the machinery of a large resort. You come here for the sea, the food and the easy pace: your English-speaking hosts can welcome you, while the terrace, garden and beach keep the setting pleasantly uncomplicated.

The lodge also suits mixed groups. You can spend the morning offshore, take a bicycle out, or head towards the rainforest, while a less adventurous companion can stay by the pool or settle into a book. It is family-friendly too, with rooms for up to four guests and children of any age welcome.

The useful detail is that the lodge does not ask you to choose between a beach stay and an active one. For a more formal evening, The Chef’s Table is indoors and air-conditioned, where you can watch Chef Rob prepare a seven-course surprise menu using fresh local ingredients.

The restaurant can accommodate vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free and dairy-free diets, with special-diet menus available on request. A shared Chef’s Table experience also features in Foodie Fridays. There is a bar on site, and wine or champagne is available; the serious point, though, is that you have three distinct dinner formats without needing to leave the lodge.

The outdoor pool is tucked into a landscaped courtyard, with a waterfall running into it. It gives you a quieter alternative to the beach when you want shade, a book and a drink rather than another bout of activity. Pool and beach towels, sun loungers and beach chairs are available, while the beachfront itself comes with loungers and parasols.

The water is there to be used, not just photographed. Kayaks and paddle boards are available, as are bicycles for getting around Hopkins and the surrounding area. Snorkelling, boat excursions and fishing are also offered, with several activities taking place away from the property. After diving, a bicycle ride or an unhurried paddle is considerably less demanding than pretending you still have the knees of a twenty-year-old.

The easiest air route described for reaching the lodge uses Philip Goldson International Airport and a connection to Dangriga.

Check-in runs from 15:00 to 21:00. Check-out is from 11:00 to 11:30, so an early arrival or a late departure needs to be planned around those windows. Children of any age are welcome, and children aged six and over are charged as adults. Extra beds can be requested for guests aged 10 to 17; cots and extra beds are not available for younger children.
