Mundo Acuatico Dive Center

Located in Playas del Coco, Guanacaste, Mundo Acuatico has been a cornerstone of the Costa Rican diving community for 47 years. This longevity has established them as a technical hub for both local divers and those travelling for international expeditions.

The centre serves as a base for exploring the rich marine environments of the Pacific coast, while also organising diving tours to destinations such as Panama, Mexico, Belize, and Honduras. Whether you are looking for local reef dives or an organised trip to Roatán or the Riviera Maya, the centre's deep roots in the region provide a reliable foundation.

The team is composed of highly qualified professionals, including Mayra Gutiérrez, who holds the distinction of being the first female diving instructor in Costa Rica. This level of experience is reflected in their approach to both training and technical service.

Instruction is available in both Spanish and English, making the centre accessible to international divers. They are affiliated with both PADI and NAUI, ensuring that certifications and training standards meet global requirements.

Mundo Acuatico offers a comprehensive curriculum through PADI and NAUI. For beginners, they provide Discovery Scuba Diving and Junior Open Water Scuba Diver courses, leading through to the standard Open Water Scuba Diver and Advanced Scuba Diver certifications.

For those looking to professionalise or specialise, the centre offers Divemaster, Rescue Scuba Diver, and Nitrox Scuba Diver courses. They also provide specific training such as the Underwater Navigator, Deep Diver, and Night Diver specialties, as well as wreck diving instruction.

The centre operates a full-service shop with a wide range of equipment for sale and hire, including wetsuits, masks, fins, and snorkelling kit. They stock reputable brands such as Cressi, Oceanic, TYR, Reef, Tilos, and JBL.

Beyond retail, Mundo Acuatico functions as a technical service centre. They provide specialised equipment maintenance and repair services, as well as cylinder filling and testing. For those looking to extend their bottom time, Nitrox is available on-site.
