Catalina Divers Supply

Located within the historic Casino building at the Casino Dive Park, Catalina Divers Supply has been a fixture of the local diving community for more than 60 years. It serves as the primary hub for underwater exploration on Santa Catalina Island, offering a gateway to the region's famous kelp forests and diverse marine life.

The centre is uniquely positioned as the only PADI 5-Star facility on the island. Whether you are arriving by sea via the Catalina Express or Catalina Flyer, or arriving by air, the shop provides a complete range of services from professional instruction to technical gas blending.

The team brings over a century of combined instructor experience to every dive. This depth of knowledge ensures that whether you are undertaking a Discover Scuba Diving session or training for professional Instructor Trainer levels, you are working with seasoned experts.

On-site specialists include a dedicated Repair Tech for your equipment needs and a Photo Pro to assist with underwater photography. The centre also supports modern diving advancements, including the availability of Avelo technology.

The centre offers a complete progression of PADI courses. Beginners can start with Discover Scuba Diving or the Open Water Diver course, with further advancement through to more advanced certifications.

For those pursuing a career in diving, the centre provides professional training up to the Instructor Trainer level. The facility is well-equipped to handle both recreational and professional training requirements.

The Scuba Cat is a 46' Newton fiberglass-hull vessel custom-built specifically for dive excursions. This boat is equipped with two new engines and features a sun deck for relaxing between dives, as well as three hot water shower heads and a head with a sink for convenience.

For those looking to capture the underwater world, the Scuba Cat is fitted with two dedicated camera tables and a fresh water equipment and camera rinse tank. The vessel is designed to facilitate comfortable boat diving, though please note that a minimum of 6 divers is required for boat departures.

The shore-based facilities at the Casino Dive Park are extensive, featuring an indoor classroom for theory work and a full retail shop for gear purchase and servicing. Divers can make use of the hot showers and restrooms available on-site.

As the exclusive source of air fills at the dive park, the centre provides Nitrox, 100% Oxygen, and Trimix. A full range of rental kit is available for those not travelling with their own equipment.

The kelp forests are teeming with life, where you can regularly encounter giant black seabass, Garibaldi, and various species of bat rays. You may also see leopard sharks, harbor seals, and dolphins patrolling the area.

Macro life enthusiasts will find plenty to observe, including a variety of colourful nudibranchs. The surrounding waters also host flying fish and ocean sunfish.

Seasonal visitors may have the chance to see blue whales during July and August, or Pacific gray whales during their winter migration to Baja and their summer migration to Alaska. California spiny lobster can also be found between September and March.

The fall season is generally considered the best time to dive, offering calmer waters, clear visibility, and warmer temperatures. During the summer, increased plankton levels can occasionally impact visibility.

Water temperatures typically range between 12°C and 21°C.
