Bubble Addict Okinawa

Bubble Addict Okinawa is a premium SSI dive centre situated in Nakijin, in the northern reaches of Okinawa. Founded in 2022 by Julien, an instructor with experience dating back to 2012, the centre was established to bring a more personalised, calm approach to diving in the region.

The centre is positioned to take advantage of the quieter, less crowded reefs found in the north of the island. By focusing on these specific areas, the team provides a more intimate connection with the marine environment, away from the busier dive hubs.

The team is led by Julien, who brings years of experience from both Japan and Indonesia to the operation. The centre operates with a strict limit of four divers per guide, ensuring that whether you are a solo traveller, a family, or a beginner, you receive individual attention and guidance.

Communication is easy for international divers, as the team is multilingual, speaking English, French, Japanese, Mandarin, and Cantonese. This makes navigating course materials or discussing dive site specifics straightforward regardless of your native tongue.

Environmental stewardship is a core part of the centre's identity. They utilise reef-safe products and actively participate in turtle conservation efforts, ensuring that your presence on the reef has a minimal footprint.

As a premium SSI centre, the full range of SSI certifications is available. Beginners can start with Discover Scuba Diving or work through the Open Water Diver and Advanced Adventurer pathways.

For more experienced divers, the centre offers a variety of specialties to refine your skills. These include the Enriched Air Nitrox Specialty, Deep Diving Specialty, Wreck Diving Specialty, and the Perfect Buoyancy Specialty. You can also focus on technical or scientific aspects through the React Right, Science Of Diving, or Marine Ecology specialties.

The centre provides full equipment hire for those not travelling with their own kit. This includes all the essentials required for a comfortable dive, from regulators to wetsuits.

For those looking to extend their bottom time or dive more efficiently, Nitrox is available on-site. Safety is a priority, with oxygen availability maintained for all diving activities.

The reefs of northern Okinawa are vibrant, with healthy coral structures providing the foundation for a busy ecosystem. You will frequently encounter various tropical fish, including angelfish (Pomacanthidae), triggerfish (Balistidae), and colorful reef fish.

Larger pelagic life is a regular highlight, with divers often spotting sea turtles (Cheloniidae), rays (Batoidea), and eagle rays. Whitetip reef sharks (Triaenodon obesus) and blacktip reef sharks are also part of the local resident population.

For those with an eye for detail, the macro life is exceptional. The area is a haven for nudibranchs (Chromodoris willani), seahorses, and various species of octopus. You can also find frogfish, stonefish, and pygmy seahorses tucked away in the coral.

In the sandy areas and crevices, look out for cuttlefish, sea snakes (Hydrophiinae), and various species of eels. The presence of jack (Carangidae), great barracuda (Sphyraena barracuda), and yellow snappers adds to the dynamic movement of the reef.
