Seakers Okinawa

Located in Naha, Seakers Okinawa serves as a gateway to some of the most diverse marine environments in the Japanese archipelago. From the shallow, sun-drenched coral reefs of the Kerama Islands to the deeper, historic wrecks closer to the mainland, the area offers a broad spectrum of diving opportunities.

The centre operates with a focus on high-standard training and small-group excursions. Whether you are looking to complete your first Open Water Diver qualification or seeking to advance through professional SSI courses, the local expertise ensures you are matched to the right environment.

The team is led by an SSI Instructor Trainer (IT), representing the highest level of professional instruction within the SSI system. This ensures that training, from basic skills to advanced specialties, is conducted to rigorous international standards.

With two instructors available, the centre maintains a focus on personalised attention and safety. The staff is multilingual, capable of conducting dives and training in English, Japanese, Spanish, and German, making it accessible for a wide range of international divers.

Seakers Okinawa offers a complete range of SSI certifications. Beginners can start with the Open Water Diver or Junior Open Water Diver courses, while those looking to build experience can progress through the Advanced Open Water Diver programme.

Specialty training is extensive, covering areas such as Enriched Air Nitrox, Deep Diving, Perfect Buoyancy, Navigation, and Wreck Specialty. The centre also provides technical and professional training, including Stress & Rescue, Science of Diving, and full professional instructor pathways.

Full kit hire is available on-site for those not travelling with their own equipment, including BCDs, regulators, fins, and masks. The centre provides all the necessary components for a complete setup.

For those looking to enhance their underwater documentation, the centre includes underwater videos as part of their dive excursions. Divers are advised to bring their own lunch, snacks, and beverages for the boat trips.

The reefs are teeming with life, including various tropical fish, damselfish, and colourful reef fish. You will frequently encounter many species of corals and sea anemone fish moving amongst the structures.

Larger pelagics and iconic species include sea turtles (Cheloniidae), such as the Green sea turtle (Chelonia mydas) and Hawksbill turtle (Eretmochelys imbricata). Divers may also spot Whitetip reef sharks (Triaenodon obesus), blacktip reef sharks, and various species of Ray (Batoidea).

Macro life enthusiasts can look for Nudibranch (Chromodoris willani), leaf scorpionfish, and various species of pufferfish. The diverse habitats also support garden eels and giant moray eels tucked into the reef architecture.

Diving in Okinawa is influenced by local currents and boat schedules, with most excursions allowing for bottom times of 40 to 45 minutes. The Kerama Islands offer highly stable conditions for reef exploration.
