Super Fish Diving

Located in Urasoe City, Super Fish Diving provides access to some of the most diverse underwater landscapes in Okinawa. The centre specialises in reaching less-frequented areas, particularly around the Kerama Islands, where the reefs remain pristine and the marine life is exceptionally dense.

Whether you are looking to explore the geological formations of Kumejima or seeking the adrenaline of a deep wreck dive, the centre organises trips tailored to different skill levels. Their itineraries range from shallow coral gardens to challenging drift dives on the outer reefs.

The team is composed of experienced Japanese instructors who cater to both beginners and veteran divers. Their approach is built around a long-standing commitment to safety, having maintained a record with no serious accidents reported since the centre opened.

Beyond the water, the team is known for their flexibility, often organising personalised activities such as garden barbecues for their divers. While the management has transitioned to supporting equipment maintenance at an affiliated shop, the core expertise remains available to guide divers through the local waters.

The centre provides training for those looking to start their journey with the Open Water Diver course. They also offer discovery dives for those who have never breathed underwater before.

The centre operates a dive boat that includes onboard toilet facilities, a practical feature for longer excursions. The vessel is used for various trip types, including day trips to the Kerama Islands and night dives.

Full kit hire is available on-site for divers who prefer not to travel with their own equipment. This includes regulators, BCDs, and exposure suits, ensuring you have everything required for the local conditions.

For those planning night dives, torches are available for hire to assist with visibility and marine life observation.

The reefs are home to a vast array of tropical fish, including various species of damselfish such as blue-green damselfish and golden damselfish. You will also encounter many colourful fish, including angelfish (Pomacanthidae), triggerfish (Balistidae), and parrotfish (Calotomus) navigating the coral structures.

Larger residents include various sharks, such as blacktip reef sharks and whitetip reef sharks (Triaenodon obesus), as well as jacks (Carangidae) and great barracuda (Sphyraena barracuda). Manta rays (Mobula alfredi) and eagle rays are also sought after by divers on the outer reefs.

In the sandy areas and reef edges, you can find sea turtles (Cheloniidae), including green sea turtles (Chelonia mydas) and hawksbill turtles (Eretmochelys imbricata). Garden eels and various rays (Batoidea) are also common sights on the seabed.

For those interested in seasonal events, Humpback whales can be observed from December to April, and coral spawning occurs between May and September.

Divers should be aware that currents can become very strong at specific sites, notably the USS Emmons and the Nakuruma drift site. These conditions require careful buoyancy control and experience.

Sea conditions in Okinawa can be affected by swell, particularly from January to March. During this period, the sea is often rougher with larger waves, which may impact boat stability and dive planning.
