Perhentian Island Divers

Perhentian Island Divers is situated on the most beautiful private beach of Perhentian Besar, specifically at Teluk Pauh. Established in 2011, the centre has spent over a decade building a reputation for structured, safety-conscious diving in the Terengganu region.

The centre is integrated with the Perhentian Island Resort, a recently renovated three-star complex. This provides a convenient base for divers, offering on-site accommodation, a restaurant, and a spa to relax in after a day on the water.

The centre is led by PADI Course Director Andy Lua and operates as a PADI IDC centre. This status means they are equipped to take divers through the full spectrum of professional training, from entry-level certifications to instructor candidates.

Safety is a core part of their operational philosophy, with a strict emphasis on verifying certifications and maintaining small group sizes. This ensures that every diver, whether a novice or an experienced professional, receives the necessary attention and guidance.

Beyond training, the team is deeply committed to marine conservation. They are actively involved in several local initiatives, including the Planet Blue Carbon coral rehabilitation project, The Shark Friend research and education programme, and ongoing efforts to combat ocean debris.

The course catalogue is comprehensive, covering the entire PADI progression. Beginners can start with Discovery Scuba Diving or the PADI Open Water Course, moving through to the Advanced Diver Course and Rescue Diver certification.

For those looking to specialise, a wide range of Specialty Courses are available. The centre also caters to professional aspirants through its IDC (Instructor Development Course) and offers DPV (Diver Propulsion Vehicle) training.

The centre provides a variety of equipment for hire, including regulators, fins, and masks. For those looking to document their dives, camera equipment rental is also available on site.

As the centre is attached to the Perhentian Island Resort, divers have access to well-maintained facilities, including changing areas and on-site dining to refuel between trips.

The waters around Perhentian are home to a variety of large pelagics and reef inhabitants. You can regularly encounter turtles, sharks, and rays patrolling the reefs.

Fish life is abundant throughout the area, providing plenty of activity for both reef explorers and those looking for larger species. The local ecosystem supports a healthy population of various reef fish that frequent the coral structures.

The best time to dive in this region is from March to October. During this window, the conditions are most favourable for recreational diving.

It is important to note that the diving season is closed from November to February due to the monsoon, when sea conditions become unsuitable for boat operations.
