Scuba Elite

Located in Kralendijk, Scuba Elite provides a boutique diving experience on the island of Bonaire. The centre is built around a personalised approach, ensuring that whether you are a novice or a seasoned professional, your dive plans are tailored to your specific interests and abilities.

As a PADI affiliated centre, they maintain a high standard of instruction and safety. The shop is well-equipped for both recreational and specialised diving, providing a reliable base for exploring the island's famous reefs and wrecks.

The team is led by Pascal, a PADI Course Director and the founder of the centre. He is joined by Mélina, the Dive Shop Manager and an IDC Staff Instructor, and Caroline, a PADI Master Scuba Diver Trainer.

Safety and individual attention are central to their operation, with a strict limit of four divers per guide. This low ratio allows for more thorough instruction and a more relaxed pace during guided dives.

The centre is also deeply committed to marine conservation. They integrate environmental stewardship into their offerings through specialised training such as Reef Renewal Diver and PADI AWARE courses.

Scuba Elite offers the complete spectrum of PADI training. Beginners can start with Discover Scuba Diving and progress through the Open Water Diver and Advanced Open Water Diver courses. For those looking to deepen their skills, specialties such as Peak Performance Buoyancy, Deep Diver, Wreck Diver, and Night Diver are available.

The centre also supports professional progression, offering courses from Divemaster through to Open Water Scuba Instructor. For divers interested in environmental science, they provide specialised training including Sea Turtle Identification, Fish Identification, and Underwater Naturalist programmes.

Technical and niche skills are also covered, with options for Diver Propulsion Vehicle (DPV) Diver, Full Face Mask Diver, and Search and Recovery training.

The centre provides a full range of rental kit, including BCDs, regulators, wetsuits, fins, masks, snorkels, and torches for night diving. For those who require more precision, dive computers and compasses are also available for hire.

On-site facilities include a dedicated rinsing area for your equipment and a well-stocked boutique. Nitrox is available for divers looking to extend their bottom time, and the centre maintains a cylinder cage for easy access to air and enriched air.

The reefs around Bonaire are teeming with life, from large pelagics to tiny reef inhabitants. You will regularly encounter various sea turtles (Cheloniidae), including hawksbill, green, and loggerhead species. Larger fish such as tarpon (Megalops), grouper (Epinephelus), and various snapper (Lutjanus) are common sights around the ledges and wrecks.

The reef structure itself is vibrant, composed of brain corals, whip corals, sea fans (Gorgoniidae), and various sponges (Porifera). You can observe a wide array of colourful reef fish, including parrotfish (Calotomus), surgeonfish (Acanthuridae), and damselfish (Pomacentridae), alongside blue chromis and various wrasse (Labridae).

Macro enthusiasts will find plenty to explore, including nudibranchs (Chromodoris willani), seahorses (Hippocampus kuda), and various species of shrimp (Caridea). Keep a close eye on the smaller details for gobies (Gobiidae), blennies (Blenniidae), and different types of crabs (Brachyura).

Specialised night dives offer the chance to see unique behaviour, including the appearance of ostracodes, which occurs a few nights after the full moon.
