The Villas by LXRYHOME is built around the idea of having a villa rather than a conventional hotel room. You get your own entrance, garden, terrace and outdoor dining area, with the space to spread out properly when several divers are travelling together.

You are in Jan Thiel, Curaçao, with Jan Thiel Bay Beach about 0.5 miles away. That puts the sea within reach without putting you directly on the sand; a short walk separates your villa from the bay, while a car makes the other nearby beaches easier to combine in one outing.

Baya Beach and Tugboat Beach are about 1.7 and 1.9 miles away by road. Caracasbaai is around 1.2 miles away, and the Curaçao Sea Aquarium is roughly 5 miles away by road. Queen Emma Bridge, in the direction of Willemstad, is about 6 miles away by road. You have a cluster of beaches and attractions nearby, but the villa itself remains a self-contained base rather than a seafront hotel.

These are villas for spreading out, not rooms for squeezing a wet bag beside the wardrobe. The accommodation is large enough for families or groups, with four bathrooms in each villa and family accommodation available. The private-pool option is the obvious choice if your preferred post-dive routine involves getting straight into the water without leaving your own terrace.

Every villa has air conditioning, a fan, a private balcony and a view, with garden views among the options. Soundproofing and a private entrance add a useful degree of separation from the outside world. After the salt, heat and boat noise of the day, that matters more than another decorative cushion.

The kitchen is properly equipped with an oven, hob, microwave, refrigerator, coffee machine, kitchenware and a dining table. There is also a washing machine, plus a seating area with a sofa and a flat-screen television. You can keep drinks cold, cook when it suits you and deal with dive kit clothing without turning the bathroom into a laundry room.

The year-round outdoor swimming pool gives you somewhere to cool off without making another trip to the beach. Sun umbrellas, garden space, a patio and outdoor furniture keep the day outside when you have had enough of tiled floors and fluorescent changing rooms.

A private pool is available with one villa category, which changes the rhythm of a non-diving day: coffee outside, a swim when the heat builds, then back to the shade. For an outing beyond the property, the Curaçao Sea Aquarium is around 5 miles away by road, while Queen Emma Bridge is about 6 miles away. The villas are better suited to setting your own pace than following a programme.

Curaçao International Airport is about 11 miles away by road, with a driving time of roughly 19 minutes. An airport shuttle and a general shuttle service are available to arrange with the property. Free private parking is available on site, and no reservation is needed; useful if you plan to make the most of the beaches and attractions around Jan Thiel rather than stay put every day.

Check-in starts at 16:00 and check-out runs until 12:00. You need to give the property your expected arrival time, and photo identification plus a credit card are required at check-in. The minimum check-in age is 25, cash is not accepted, and payment before arrival by bank transfer is required. Children of any age are welcome, cots can be requested for younger children, and extra beds are not available.
