Sunshine Reef, Portsmouth, Dominica: A Coral Plateau and Wall Dive

Your dive at Sunshine Reef begins on a relatively shallow sandy plateau, usually around 10 meters, where the sunlight penetrates with remarkable clarity. This expansive flat area lives up to its name, feeling like an open-air aquarium teeming with life. As you glide over the sand, you'll encounter numerous coral heads standing proud, interspersed with vibrant sponges and delicate Sea pens, creating a tapestry of textures and colors underfoot.

The plateau gently slopes, gradually giving way to the dramatic drop-off that defines the wall section of Sunshine Reef. This transition offers a distinct change in topography and marine life, drawing you deeper into the blue.
