For a longer outing, the island’s hiking and cultural possibilities include The Quill itself, whose trails lead towards tropical rainforest.

For two people who want the view to do some of the evening’s work, the King Room with Sea View is the obvious choice: a super-king bed, private balcony and sea outlook give you somewhere to sit without having to decamp to the communal areas. The balcony is also useful for the first coffee of the day, before your legs remember what yesterday’s volcano walk involved.

The Apartment is the more practical direction if you value extra living flexibility. The accommodation includes fully equipped kitchens or kitchenettes, while the rooms also offer a coffee machine, seating area and desk.
