Diverland Diving Center

Located in Hanimaadhoo, Diverland Diving Center provides access to the diverse marine environments of the Maldives. The area is characterised by a mix of reef flats, deep walls, and interesting underwater structures that cater to a wide range of experience levels.

Whether you are looking to experience your first breath underwater or are an experienced diver seeking drift dives, the centre's proximity to various reef types offers significant variety. The local waters are known for their healthy coral ecosystems and frequent sightings of large pelagics.

The centre is a PADI affiliated dive centre, ensuring that all training follows international standards. Instruction is available in both English and German, making it accessible for a variety of international divers.

For those new to the water, the centre offers the Resort Course (Try Dive), which includes a free lagoon trial in shallow water with a maximum depth of 2 metres. This allows you to get comfortable with your buoyancy and breathing before progressing to more advanced training.

Diverland Diving Center provides a full range of PADI training programmes. Beginners can start with the Scuba Diver course or progress to the full Open Water Diver certification.

All equipment is included in the cost of these training programmes, ensuring you have everything you need to complete your certification locally.

The centre operates using a traditional dhoni, providing a local experience as you head out to the dive sites. These vessels are used for reef dives, boat dives, and night dives.

Nitrox is available on board for those looking to extend their no-decompression limits during their excursions.

Full equipment hire is available at the centre, covering everything required for both the Resort Course and standard scuba diving. This includes regulators, BCDs, and exposure suits.

For night diving, torches are provided as part of the kit hire. The centre also offers dedicated snorkeling excursions where you can use your own mask, snorkel, and fins, or purchase them on-site.

The reefs are home to a steady population of sea turtles, whitetip reef sharks, and various species of rays. You will frequently encounter snappers, moray eels, and spiny lobsters patrolling the reef structure.

During the months from December to April, the area becomes a significant location for manta rays. The presence of plankton during the northeast monsoon helps attract these large animals to the local channels.

Macro life enthusiasts can find a variety of smaller organisms, including nudibranchs, various shrimps, and scorpionfish. Octopus and various species of crustaceans are also regularly spotted among the reef crevices.

The larger pelagics include barracuda, blue trevally, and tuna. Depending on the site and conditions, you may also encounter nurse sharks, eagle rays, and occasionally marlin.

Conditions vary significantly depending on the specific dive site. Some locations, such as Turtle Reef and Akirifushi Caves, can experience moderate to strong currents, requiring a higher level of buoyancy control.

Other sites, like Potato Reef and the Hembadhoo Wreck, offer low to no current, making them suitable for those still developing their skills. Drift diving is a common practice at sites like Barracuda Point and Turtle Point (Addu).
