Thoddoo Diving Center, PDH Maldives

Located on Thoddoo, one of the most lush islands in the North Ari Atoll, this centre serves as a gateway to some of the most iconic dive sites in the Maldives. While the island is well-known for its greenery and beaches, the real draw for divers lies in the surrounding reefs and corners of the atoll.

Since 2014, the team has been guiding divers through the diverse marine environments of the region. Whether you are looking to explore the caves of the reef flat or drift along the edges of deep thilas, the centre provides the logistics and local knowledge required to navigate these waters safely.

The centre is run by instructors with over 20 years of experience in the industry. They offer a multilingual service, with staff capable of instructing in English, Russian, German, and Spanish.

Training is conducted under SSI, CMAS, and NDL affiliations, ensuring a high standard of professional instruction. The team is also geared towards developing the next generation of divers, offering the Scuba Ranger Diving for Kids programme.

For those looking to turn a passion into a career, the centre provides pathways into professional training, including Dive Guide courses. They actively look for talented students to join their professional ranks.

The course catalogue covers the entire spectrum of diving, from the initial Try Dive and Open Water Diver certification to advanced specialties. You can progress through the ranks with courses such as Advanced Training, Deep Diving, and Night Diving.

For divers looking to specialise, the centre offers Wreck Diving and Nitrox certification. Those focused on safety and leadership can enrol in the Rescue Diver or Dive Guide programmes. All training follows the standards of SSI, CMAS, and NDL.

The fleet is designed to suit different diving styles and group sizes. For quick transfers and efficient travel to specific sites, they utilise a 36ft speedboat powered by a 900 HP engine.

For a more traditional Maldivian experience, the 38ft dhoni is available for trips. The centre also operates a 26ft dinghy, useful for accessing shallower areas or specific reef locations. Nitrox is available for use on these vessels.

The centre provides full rental kit for those who do not wish to bring their own. They stock reliable brands including Aqualung, Mares, and Cressi, covering everything from regulators to BCDs.

For younger divers, the centre maintains a stock of 5L cylinders to ensure a more comfortable experience. Standard 12L and 15L cylinders are also available for adult divers. Nitrox is provided on-site to extend your bottom time on the reef.

The reefs around Thoddoo are teeming with life, from large pelagics to smaller reef residents. You can expect to see sharks, turtles, eagle rays, and large schools of tuna. The presence of Napoleon wrasse, moray eels, and great barracuda is common across the various thilas and corners.
