The Vaavu Atoll is a premier destination for seeing large pelagics. You can expect to encounter nurse sharks, lemon sharks, and blacktip reef sharks, alongside southern stingrays and eagle rays. Turtles and dolphins are also frequently sighted in these waters.

On the reef, the biodiversity is high, with a constant presence of tropical fish such as butterflyfish, angelfish, and clownfish. You will also find moray eels, gobies, and various species of sea cucumbers and starfish decorating the reef structure.

For those interested in macro life, the area supports a healthy population of octopus and various reef inhabitants that thrive within the coral architecture.

Divers should plan their travel with care, as it is advised not to dive within 12 hours of a flight and to avoid diving 24 hours before flying. The centre organises boat-based dives to access the various sites around the atoll.
