There is nothing needlessly complicated about Levant Residence: you have an outdoor pool, air-conditioned rooms, a restaurant, a bar and the sea within a short walk. The setting is geared towards easy days rather than theatrical resort living, which suits you if the important questions are whether you can cool down, eat properly and get back to your room without a logistical expedition.

Families have room to spread out in the larger accommodation, while couples can keep things simpler with a double room. Free Wi-Fi throughout the hotel, free private parking and a grocery shop, cash machine and post office within a few yards all make the place useful in the unglamorous but valuable sense of the word.

You will find the residence in Sukošan, on Ulica dr. Franje Tuđmana and directly beside State Road 8. Dječji Raj Beach is about 0.25 miles away, with Zlatna Luka Beach, Soline Beach and Tratice Beach also within roughly 0.6 to 0.9 miles. The property is not directly on the sand, so your swim starts with a short walk rather than a step through the gate.

Dalmacija Marina is about 0.3 miles away, while the local bus station is roughly 0.06 miles from the hotel, with direct links to Zadar. A grocery shop, cash machine and post office sit within about 0.02 miles, which is handy when you need water, cash or one forgotten item without turning it into an outing. Zadar is around 7.5 miles away along State Road 8, and the old city gives you a straightforward change of scene for an evening.

Zadar Airport is about 2 miles away. That keeps arrival and departure relatively simple, particularly if you arrange the hotel's airport shuttle before travelling.

The room choice is fairly easy to read. For two of you, the Double Room keeps things compact, with a king-size bed and air conditioning for the part of the day when the Croatian heat has done its work. If you want outdoor space as well as extra room, the Triple Room with Balcony gives you a king-size bed and a single bed, while the Quadruple Room with Balcony is the sensible pick for a family or a group of four, with two king-size beds.

The balconies matter because they give you somewhere to sit without turning the room into the only place to dry off and unwind. The television is there for low-effort evenings, and heating is available when the season turns cooler. Family rooms, non-smoking rooms and an allergy-free room are part of the accommodation mix, so you can choose around the needs of your party rather than squeeze everyone into the same template.

Daily housekeeping, luggage storage and room service take care of the useful details. Breakfast can also be brought to your room, which is worth considering when an early start has made conversation an optional extra.

Sala Levant is the hotel's restaurant, serving breakfast, lunch and dinner indoors. The cooking is Mediterranean, with menus built around fresh local ingredients, so the table is not limited to a morning coffee before you head out. Continental breakfast is included, and breakfast in the room is available when you would rather eat quietly than queue for anything.

There is one bar on site. Sometimes that is the entire plan, and it is a perfectly respectable one.

For a little more movement, bicycles are available to hire. The nearby beaches give you several options for a swim, while Zadar offers historic sights, museums and squares when you want an evening away from the residence. Boat trips to Kornati National Park can be arranged in central Zadar, giving you another way to spend a non-diving day.

Massage treatments include full-body, back, neck, head, hand and foot massage, as well as couples massage. That is the useful sort of after-water option: no group activity, no timetable to memorise, just a chance for you and your partner to stop doing things for a while.

Check-in runs from 15:00 to 23:00, and check-out from 07:00 to 11:30. There is no age requirement for check-in, and children of any age are welcome. Children aged two and over are charged as adults under the property's policy, while cots can be requested for children from birth to two years; extra beds are not available.

Free private parking is available on site without reservation, and valet parking is also offered. Wi-Fi is free throughout the hotel.
