The setting suits couples, families and divers who want the sea close but do not need a specialist dive base built into the hotel. You have a restaurant, a bar, a pool, evening entertainment and a wellness area on hand, with WiFi throughout the property. It is a sizeable resort, with 298 rooms, so this is a practical coastal base rather than a small, hushed hideaway.

You are staying in Umag, Croatia, at Plava Laguna on the seafront. Umag’s Main Beach is about 100 metres away, and the hotel has direct access to a pebble beach with sun loungers and parasols. Laguna Stella Maris Beach is roughly 0.4 miles away, while Pine Beach is about 0.7 miles away and Aurora Beach about 0.8 miles away.

Umag itself is close enough for an outing rather than a logistical expedition. The town museum and Gradska Kula are both around 0.8 miles away, with the Church of Saint Mary and Saint Peregrine at roughly the same distance. You can also reach local bars and restaurants nearby, including Villa Punta, Guest House Adriatic, La Capannina and Da Lorenzo, while Sečovlje Salina Nature Park lies about 5 miles away.

For flights, Trieste Airport is about 26 miles away and Pula Airport about 42 miles away. Umag Bus Station is roughly 1.5 miles from the hotel, which is useful if you are travelling without a hire car and would rather not turn the transfer into a small expedition of its own.

The arrangement is more useful than theatrical: breakfast before heading out, dinner back at the resort, and a drink within easy reach when the evening has run out of energy.

Trieste Airport is the nearer of the two listed airports at about 26 miles, while Pula Airport is about 42 miles away.

Children over 12 are treated as adults for occupancy purposes, and the room options do not include extra beds. Pets are allowed, with restrictions in the restaurant, reception and pool area. Cash is accepted.
