Blue Waters Dive Cove

With more than 20 years of operation, the centre is a long-established PADI facility. The team focuses on a client-centred approach, ensuring that training and guided dives are tailored to the specific needs and abilities of the individual.

The centre is well-equipped to handle a wide range of divers, from those taking their very first breaths underwater to professional candidates working through their instructor development. They offer everything from entry-level certifications to advanced technical training, maintaining a high standard of safety and instruction throughout.

The training programme is comprehensive, covering the entire PADI spectrum. Beginners can start with Discover Scuba Diving and progress through the Open Water Diver and Advanced Open Water Diver courses. For those looking to move into the professional ranks, the centre offers Divemaster and IDC programmes.

Specialised training is also a core part of the curriculum. You can enrol in Nitrox, Deep Diver, Wreck, Sidemount, Cavern, and Night Diver courses. For technical divers, the centre provides PADI technical courses to expand your depth and gas management capabilities.

The marine life here is exceptionally diverse, ranging from large pelagics to delicate macro species. You will frequently encounter schools of fish including Jack (Carangidae), Amberjack (Seriola), and various species of sea bream (Sparidae). Larger predators like Great barracuda (Sphyraena barracuda) and dentex (Dentex dentex) are also part of the local ecosystem.

The reef walls and rocky structures are home to a vast array of invertebrates. You can find Octopus (Octopus vulgaris), Cuttlefish (Sepiidae), and various species of Moray eel (Muraenidae) tucked into crevices. Spiny lobster (Palinuridae) and Lobster (Homaridae) are also present among the rocks.

For those with an eye for detail, the macro life is significant. Nudibranch (Chromodoris willani) can be found throughout the area, alongside various species of shrimp (Caridea) and small creatures. You may also spot colorful sponges (Porifera) and sea stars (Asteroidea) decorating the seabed.

Seasonal highlights include seeing Conger eel (Congridae) at the Blue Hole during the winter months, and finding Shrimp (Caridea) in the same area during the summer. In Mgarr ix-Xini, you may have the chance to spot Seahorse (Hippocampus kuda) during the summer months.

Diving in Gozo is possible almost year-round, with water temperatures ranging from 15°C to 28°C. While the Mediterranean is generally calm, divers should always be mindful of the exit currents when surfacing from sites like the Inland Sea.

Visibility is typically excellent, often exceeding 30 metres, which enhances the experience when exploring deep wrecks or large cave systems. The topography provides plenty of sheltered areas, though the north coast can experience more significant swell than the southern bays.
