Dark Horizon Diving

Located in Qala on the island of Gozo, Dark Horizon Diving serves as a dedicated hub for technical and rebreather divers. The centre operates in affiliation with Gozo Technical Diving, an MTA-authorised facility, ensuring all activities meet rigorous local and international standards.

Gozo provides a spectacular backdrop for technical diving, offering a mix of deep wrecks and complex topography. The centre organises expeditions to diverse locations, including the famous wrecks of Truk Lagoon, providing a gateway to more advanced diving environments.

The centre is directed by Yvonne Press, a highly qualified TDI Instructor Trainer. Her expertise spans technical diving up to hypoxic Trimix on open circuit, and she holds instructor ratings for CCR on the Kiss Sidewinder and AP Diving Inspiration. Having been a professional diver since 2009, she brings a wealth of experience to every training session.

Teaching is conducted with a focus on precision and individual progression. Instruction is kept intimate, with a maximum of two students or guests per guide. This allows for the use of video analysis and Doppler O'Dive sensors to refine skills and ensure safety during complex decompression or penetration exercises.

Services are available in both English and German. The centre also provides specialised training for those looking to move into the professional ranks, offering instructor courses across several technical disciplines.

Dark Horizon Diving offers a comprehensive range of technical and rebreather courses through SDI, TDI, and RAID affiliations. The curriculum covers everything from Intro To Tech and Advanced Nitrox to complex Decompression Procedures and advanced Trimix training.

Specialised configuration training is a core offering, including both standard backmount and technical sidemount courses. For those interested in rebreather technology, the centre provides Discover CCR Rebreather, Air Diluent/Deco CCR Diver, and Helitrox Diluent Deco CCR Diver certifications.

The centre also caters to professional development, offering instructor training for TDI Sidemount, SDI Solo Diver, and various technical specialties. Beyond technical diving, they provide First Aid, CPR, and Oxygen Administration training.

The centre is a specialist provider of technical kit, including XDeep Dive Gear. For technical training, the centre provides essential support such as the rental and filling of decompression cylinders, as well as double cylinders or sidemount configurations.

For rebreather divers, the centre provides support with O2 and diluent cylinders, using air or EAN28, alongside bailout cylinder rentals and fills. All technical training sessions include the use of Doppler O'Dive sensors for accurate decompression monitoring.

The best conditions for technical diving in the area are typically found during the early and late parts of the season, specifically from April to October. During these months, the weather and water conditions are generally most favourable for planned expeditions.

Divers should be prepared for varying depths and environments, ranging from shallow wreck sites to deep technical dives that require significant decompression management.
