Extra Divers Gozo is situated in a prime location behind the Grand Hotel Mgarr, just a short walk or drive from the harbour. This base serves as an ideal jumping-off point for exploring the dramatic topography of Gozo, from deep walls to intricate cave systems and swim-throughs.

The centre operates daily, offering guided excursions that reach Comino, Malta, and the surrounding Gozitan coastline. Whether you are looking for a relaxed reef dive or more technical exploration, the setup is designed to accommodate various levels of experience.

The centre is managed by Markus Lanz and operates with a team of four instructors. This small team ensures that dive groups remain manageable, allowing for a more personal approach to instruction and guiding.

Instruction is available in English, German, Spanish, and French, making it easy to communicate technical details during training or on the boat. The team covers the full spectrum of SSI certifications, from Open Water Diver through to Assistant Instructor levels.

For younger divers, the centre provides specialized diving programmes for children aged 12 and over. Qualified divers also have the option to dive without a guide, provided they meet the necessary certification requirements.

Extra Divers Gozo provides a comprehensive range of SSI training programmes. Beginners can start with the Open Water Diver course, while more advanced divers can progress through Advanced Open Water and specialized modules like Deep Diver and Wreck Diver.

For those looking to move into technical or specialty diving, the centre offers Sidemount training, Decompression courses, and Nitrox certification. The teaching extends even further up the professional ladder, offering courses up to the Assistant Instructor level.

The shore base is well-equipped for both recreational and technical divers. For those needing to hire kit, there are 20 complete Aqua Lung sets available, along with 5mm wetsuits. The centre also provides underwater torches for night dives and DPV Suex scooters for those looking to extend their range.

Cylinder options include 10, 12, and 15-litre steel cylinders. Nitrox is available for those looking to extend their bottom time, and the centre stocks sidemount cylinders for technical training. The facility is supported by two compressors and uses DIN mono-valves, though INT adapters are available on-site.

The waters around Gozo are home to a diverse array of Mediterranean life. You will regularly encounter schools of fish, including Jack (Carangidae), mackerels, and various seabream (Sparidae). Larger predators such as Great barracuda (Sphyraena barracuda), Amberjack (Seriola), and Tuna (Thunnus) are often seen passing through the area.

On the reef and around the rocky structures, you can find Grouper (Epinephelus), Salema porgy (Sarpa salpa), and John Dory (Zeus faber). Common sightings also include octopus (Octopus vulgaris), cuttlefish (Sepiidae), and various species of eel (Anguilliformes).

For those with a keen eye for macro life, the seabed offers plenty to discover. Look out for Seahorse (Hippocampus kuda), Nudibranch (Chromodoris willani), and various crustaceans such as Shrimp (Caridea) and Spiny lobster (Palinuridae). During night dives, keep an eye out for specialized nocturnal life including certain species of sea hares.

The marine landscape is enriched by a variety of fixed life, including star coral, sponges (Porifera), and various corals that provide habitat for small creatures and reef fish.

The diving environment in Gozo is generally characterized by low currents, making it an accessible location for many divers. Visibility is excellent, frequently reaching up to 50 metres.

The centre is closed for the season from January until the end of March. Outside of this period, the waters are known for their clarity and stable conditions.
