Family Diving Gozo

Located in the coastal village of Marsalforn, Family Diving Gozo serves as a professional hub for divers looking to explore the unique underwater topography of the Maltese islands. The centre is a certified SSI Dive Resort, operating with the necessary professional licences and assurances required for high-level instruction. The team is composed of experienced instructors capable of guiding divers through various levels of expertise, from beginners to advanced technical divers.

Instruction is available in English, Polish, and Russian. This multilingual approach ensures that international divers can follow technical briefings and safety procedures with precision, which is particularly important when training for complex environments like caves or deep wrecks.

The training catalogue is extensive, covering the full spectrum of SSI certifications. Beginners can start with the Intro dive or the Open Water Diver course, while those looking to expand their envelope can pursue the Advanced Open Water Diver, Deep Diving, and Enriched Air Nitrox programmes.

For technical and specialised divers, the centre offers several advanced pathways. These include Wreck Diving, Advanced Wreck Diving, and the Cavern & Cenote Diver specialty. Decompression Diver and Night Diving & Limited Visibility Diver courses are also available, alongside professional-level training such as Divemaster, Assistant Instructor, and Dive Guide.

The marine life around Gozo is diverse, with many species congregating around the wrecks and cave entrances. You will frequently encounter schools of fish, including various reef fish, and larger pelagics such as Great barracuda (Sphyraena barracuda) and Tuna (Thunnus).

In the rocky crevices and around the cave walls, look for crustaceans like Spiny lobster (Palinuridae), Crab (Brachyura), and various types of Shrimp (Caridea). You may also spot Octopus (Octopus vulgaris) or Moray eel (Muraenidae) sheltering in the limestone structures.

For those interested in macro life, the area hosts many small creatures, including Nudibranch (Chromodoris willani), Seahorse (Hippocampus kuda), and various species of sea hares. Scorpionfish and weaverfish are often well-camouflaged against the seabed, while sea squirts and sponges add texture to the underwater landscape.

The area is subject to varying conditions depending on the site. While many cavern dives offer sheltered environments, wreck diving—particularly at the Um El Faroud—can be impacted by strong currents.

Visibility is generally good, typically ranging between 20 and 30 metres. Divers should plan their activities according to the local swell and current conditions, which can change based on the season and weather.
