The team at Ritual Dive is composed of experienced, multilingual instructors certified through PADI, SSI, and RAID. This multi-agency affiliation means they can accommodate a wide variety of diver backgrounds and certification requirements, including crossover divers.

Safety and attention to detail are managed through a strict diver-to-guide ratio, with a maximum of four divers per instructor. This approach allows for more personalised guidance, which is particularly beneficial during technical training or when navigating complex cave systems.

The marine life around Gozo is diverse, with the rocky walls and reefs providing habitat for many species. You will frequently encounter Grouper (Epinephelus), Amberjack (Seriola), and Great barracuda (Sphyraena barracuda). Schools of fish, including various seabreams (Sparidae) and Damselfish, are common sights across the reef flats and canyons.

Macro life and smaller creatures are abundant, especially for those carrying a torch. Keep an eye out for Nudibranch (Chromodoris willani), Octopus (Octopus vulgaris), Cuttlefish (Sepiidae), and various crustaceans including crabs (Brachyura) and Spiny lobster (Palinuridae). Seahorse (Hippocampus kuda) and various species of shrimp (Caridea) can also be found tucked into the crevices.

In the seagrass meadows and around the reef edges, you will find a wealth of invertebrates such as sea cucumbers, sea urchins, and fireworms (Hermodice carunculata). The structure of the reefs is built upon a vibrant foundation of sponges (Porifera), various corals, and colourful sea squirts.

Depending on the time of year, you may see larger visitors. Loggerhead sea turtles can be spotted between June and September, while the ocean sunfish may appear during the spring and early summer.

The diving season is best experienced from May to October. During this period, the water is generally calmer, though divers should be aware that strong winds and winter swells can close off more exposed sites, particularly along the northern and western coasts of Gozo.

Water movement can range from low to moderate, making the sheltered bays like Xlendi and Mgarr ix-Xini excellent for night diving or for those practicing buoyancy and navigation in more controlled environments.
