Scuba Kings Gozo Dive Centre

Located on the waterfront in Marsalforn, Scuba Kings Gozo serves as a primary gateway to the underwater topography of Gozo. The island is widely regarded as one of the top diving destinations in the world, defined by its dramatic limestone formations, deep walls, and a variety of accessible wrecks.

The centre's position on the seafront is a significant advantage, providing direct access to the water. This setup is particularly useful for night dives, training sessions, and for those looking to explore the local coastline without the immediate need for a boat transfer.

Managed by an English-speaking family, the centre is the only fully British PADI and BSAC operation on the island. The team is composed of experienced instructors who bring a deep local knowledge of the Maltese waters to every dive.

Safety and environmental responsibility are central to their operation. The centre uses dive trucks running on 50% biodiesel to reduce their carbon footprint and actively participates in local coastline clean-ups. For those requiring medical clearance, the team can assist in organising a local doctor's visit.

The training programme is extensive, catering to recreational divers through to technical specialists. They offer the full spectrum of PADI and BSAC courses, including Open Water Diver, Advanced Open Water Diver, Rescue Diver, and Divemaster.

For those looking to progress into technical diving, the centre provides specialised instruction in Tec 40, Tec 45, Tec 50, and Tec Deep Diver. They also teach advanced gas blending and decompression protocols with Tec 65 Trimix, Tec 85 Trimix, and full Tec Trimix courses, alongside Sidemount and Cavern Diver certifications.

The centre provides a full range of rental kit for those not travelling with their own equipment. This includes regulators, wetsuits, fins, and masks, as well as dive computers available for daily hire.

For gas management, Nitrox is available for divers looking to extend their no-decompression limits. The centre also offers 15-litre cylinders for those requiring more gas volume during their dives.

The marine life around Gozo is abundant, particularly along the deep walls and within the cave systems. You will regularly encounter large groupers, dentex, and barracuda patrolling the currents, alongside jacks and silver fish. Moray eels and scorpionfish are common sights among the rocky crevices.

Macro enthusiasts will find plenty to observe, including various species of nudibranchs and sea hares. The caves and crevices are also home to many types of shrimp, octopus, and sea anemones.

The reef and rocky structures are beautifully decorated with star corals, sponges, and various types of coral. You may also spot more elusive creatures like seahorses, flying gurnard, and weaverfish in the shallower or more sheltered areas.

The best time to dive in Gozo is between May and September when the water is warmest. During the winter months from December to April, the water can be significantly colder, requiring a thick wetsuit or a drysuit.

While the area is known for its exceptional visibility, the centre can provide sheltered diving options in the event of strong winds.
