Gozo Technical Diving

Gozo Technical Diving, operating as Technical Diving Malta Ltd, is a leading European hub for advanced diver training. Located on the island of Gozo, the centre has built an international reputation over four decades by focusing on the precision and safety required for technical diving. It serves as both a high-level training academy and a professional support base for expedition divers.

The facility is officially recognised as a 5-Star TDI/SDI Instructor Training Facility and an SSI XR Training Centre. This means you can expect a standard of education that meets the highest requirements for professional development, from initial technical certifications to advanced instructor and course director programmes.

The teaching team is multilingual, providing instruction in English, German, French, Dutch, Spanish, and Italian. This allows for highly personalised coaching, ensuring that complex technical concepts are communicated clearly and accurately.

To maintain a focus on safety and individual skill development, courses are strictly limited to a maximum of one to three students. This low student-to-instructor ratio is central to their philosophy, ensuring you receive the dedicated attention necessary for mastering sidemount, twinset, or rebreather configurations.

Beyond standard training, the team provides professional support for a variety of specialised operations. This includes serving as safety divers for deep diving, supporting apnea competitions, and assisting with search and recovery missions.

The curriculum covers the entire spectrum of technical diving. You can progress from foundational courses like Advanced Nitrox and DecoPro to advanced depth and gas specialties, including TDI Trimix 75 metres, Advanced Trimix, and Helitrox. For those looking to move into overhead environments, the centre offers Intro to Cave, Full Cave, and DPV Cave Diver courses.

Specialised technical skills are also a core focus, with dedicated training for sidemount, DPV (diver propulsion vehicle) use, and rebreather operations. The centre provides a complete range of CCR courses, including MOD 1, MOD 2, and MOD 3, alongside CCR Crossover programmes. For professional divers, the facility offers full TDI/SDI Instructor and Course Director programmes (IDC/ITC).

Technical instruction is available for various disciplines, including wreck penetration, advanced wreck, and technical sidemount. The centre also provides training for specialised roles such as Nitrox Blender, Advanced Gas Blender, and Decompression Procedures Instructor.

For expeditions, the centre utilises the M/S Tulu, a dedicated dive boat designed for technical divers. It features a roof for protection and a rear platform to facilitate easier entries and exits. The vessel has a capacity for 12 passengers, making it suitable for Greenland expeditions and larger technical groups.

The shore-based facilities are designed around the needs of the technical community. The centre operates a state-of-the-art gas blending station equipped with professionally maintained BAUER compressors. These units undergo annual inspections and regular air quality testing to ensure the highest standards for your breathing gases.

For those needing to rent kit, a full range of technical equipment is available. This includes twinset and sidemount configurations, Razor harnesses, and double regulators. The centre also stocks Scubapro FMII Full Face Masks and rebreather options, specifically the JJ-CCR and the M3S Triton, to support your training or exploration.

The diving in Gozo is highly varied, with many of the most iconic sites, such as the various arches and the Inland Sea, being accessible directly from the shore. Deep wreck diving and many of the more challenging cave environments require boat access.

Technical divers can rely on the centre's ability to provide specific gas blends, including Nitrox and Trimix, to manage decompression requirements on deeper sites like Middle Finger Gozo or the various deep wrecks.
