Aquatours Almeria

Aquatours Almería is a dedicated diving hub situated within the Club Náutico Aguadulce in Roquetas de Mar. As a PADI 5 Star Instructor Development Dive Resort, the centre has established itself as a leader in both professional training and environmental stewardship in the Almería province.

The centre holds several prestigious environmental certifications, including Green Fins, PADI Eco-Centro, and Cousteau Divers Center. It also serves as a Biodiversity Sentinel Observatory for the Observadores del Mar platform, working closely with scientific institutions to monitor and protect the local marine environment.

The team is composed of experienced PADI professional instructors and naturalist guides who bring deep local knowledge to every dive. The centre maintains a strict focus on personalised attention, operating with a diver-to-guide ratio of either 1:1 or 1:2 maximum.

Beyond standard recreational diving, the staff provides specialised training in areas like marine citizen science and the protection of Posidonia oceanica meadows. They have even developed a distinctive PADI specialty, Disabled Diver Support (DDS), to facilitate adapted diving for those with specific needs.

The centre offers the complete range of PADI training, from Scuba Diver and Open Water Diver through to Advanced Open Water Diver and Rescue Diver. For those looking to progress into the professional ranks, they provide courses for Divemaster, Assistant Instructor, Instructor, and Specialty Instructor.

Specialised training is also available, including Nitrox, Deep Diver, and Wreck Diver. The centre provides unique educational opportunities through specialties such as Underwater Naturalist, Posidonia Diver, Marine Citizen Science, and their proprietary Disabled Diver Support (DDS) course.

The centre operates a 7.5m semi-rigid boat for excursions. The vessel is moored just 5 metres from the centre, which allows for a smooth and efficient embarkation and disembarkation process for all divers.

The shore-based facilities cover over 100 square metres and include a reception, a classroom, and a dedicated equipment area. Divers can make use of two changing rooms with four showers each, alongside three spacious terraces overlooking the sea.

Full rental kit is available on-site, featuring equipment from Cressi Sub for all sizes. The centre also maintains an authorised air charging station to ensure reliable service for your cylinders.

The marine life at the Acantilados de la Sierra de Gádor is shaped by a Mediterranean environment with Atlantic influences. You will find a variety of fish including white seabream, Salema porgy, Painted comber, serranos, and groupers. Larger pelagic fish and octopus are also frequently encountered among the rocks and crevices.

The seabed is rich with life, featuring sea urchins, sponges, sea anemones, and sea cucumbers. The habitat is further defined by various types of algae, including red, brown, and green varieties.

In the seagrass meadows and rocky areas, you can observe diverse invertebrates such as starfish and various species of sea fans. The biodiversity is supported by the complex ecosystem of the Posidonia meadows and the rocky reefs.

The local microclimate provides excellent diving conditions, with the area remaining accessible for more than 350 days per year. This specific geography helps protect the dive sites from the prevailing Poniente and Levante winds.

Visibility is highly variable depending on the conditions, with an average of 12 metres, though it can range from 4 metres to as much as 30 metres.
