Barcelona Diving Club

Barcelona Diving Club is a PADI 5 Star dive centre situated in the heart of the Port Olímpic. Its location offers excellent connectivity via the L4 metro at Vila Olímpica, as well as local bus, tram, and bicycle links, making it a convenient base for divers staying in the city.

The centre is positioned for easy access to the Mediterranean, with the Nova Icària beach providing a direct entry point for many activities. Whether you are looking to complete your first certification or are working towards a professional career, the facility is designed to support all stages of a diver's progression.

The instructor team brings over a decade of professional experience to the water, with a strong emphasis on personalised training in small groups. The centre is an official PADI IDC (Instructor Development Centre), led by Miguel Coll, a PADI Gold Course Director with over 30 years of experience and a track record of training more than 1,000 professionals.

Instruction is available in both Spanish and English, ensuring clear communication during technical training or recreational dives. Beyond standard instruction, the team is actively involved in marine conservation, organising seabed clean-ups and biodiversity workshops to promote scientific awareness among the local diving community.

The course catalogue covers the entire PADI progression, starting with Open Water Diver and moving through to Advanced Open Water Diver and Rescue Diver. For those looking to refine their skills, the centre offers the Peak Performance Buoyancy course and the Night Diver specialty.

As an official IDC, the centre is a destination for professional training, offering Divemaster and Instructor Development Courses. They also provide Emergency First Response training, PADI Dive Against Debris, and the Refresh & ReActivate programme for those returning to the water.

The centre provides a full range of equipment for hire, allowing you to dive without transporting your own kit. This includes regulators, wetsuits, fins, and masks, as well as torches for night diving sessions.

For those looking to extend their bottom time or manage nitrogen loading, Nitrox is available on-site. The facility is modern and well-equipped to handle both training and exploration divers.

The rocky environments and sandy patches around the port support a steady population of Mediterranean fish, including white seabream, seabream, damselfish, and various schools of fish. You can also find moray eels, spiny lobster, and starfish among the structures.

Macro life is a highlight for many divers, with frequent sightings of octopus, cuttlefish, and various species of nudibranchs. Small inhabitants such as crabs, hermit crabs, and gobies are common throughout the reef areas.

Seasonality plays a role in what you might encounter; cuttlefish are most prevalent during the spring and early summer. During the summer months, you may encounter different types of jellyfish, including Rhizostoma pulmo, and Cotylorhiza tuberculata towards the end of the summer in August and September.

The diving area is characterised by gentle currents and mild conditions, making it suitable for a wide range of divers. The site is accessible year-round, providing consistent opportunities for both training and exploration.
