Diving Portlligat

Located in the emblematic coastal setting of Cadaqués, Diving Portlligat has been operating since 2008. The centre is situated within the Cap de Creus Natural Park, providing direct access to some of the most significant marine environments on the Mediterranean coast.

The centre is integrated into the Carpe Diem Cadaqués complex, which offers apartments just 80 metres from the dive shop. This setup allows you to transition easily from your accommodation to the dive boat, with all departures taking place from Portlligat, right by the Dalí house.

The team operates with a professional yet family-oriented approach, catering to both recreational divers and those pursuing professional certifications. They are affiliated with both PADI and SSI, ensuring a wide range of recognised training standards.

Instruction is available in several languages, including English, French, German, Spanish, and Catalan, making it easy to communicate technical details during training or briefings. The centre is also officially authorised by the Generalitat de Catalunya.

The school offers a comprehensive curriculum through PADI and SSI, covering everything from Scuba Diver and Open Water Diver levels to advanced training. You can progress through Advanced Open Water Diver, Rescue Diver, and eventually professional paths such as Divemaster, Assistant Instructor, and Scuba Instructor.

Specialised training is also available, including Nitrox Diver, Deep Diver, Wreck Diver, and Night/Limited Visibility Diver. For those interested in technical skills or niche disciplines, they offer courses in Dry suit diving, Computer Diving, and even Underwater Photography and Videosub.

The centre operates three 7.5m semi-rigid boats for their daily programmed sorties. These vessels are used for regular daytime trips as well as night dives, providing access to the various sites around the Cap de Creus.

Nitrox is available for use on these outings, allowing for extended bottom times on many of the local sites.

The shore-based facilities include changing rooms equipped with showers and dedicated areas for cleaning your kit. For those who prefer not to carry their own heavy equipment, the centre offers a full range of Mares kit for hire.

Training is supported by an on-site pool located within the Carpe Diem complex, which is ideal for skill practice or initial buoyancy training before heading out to sea.

The Mediterranean habitats here support a variety of fixed life, including sea fans and various types of coral. You will often find these decorating the rocky structures and underwater terrain throughout the park.

For macro enthusiasts, the area is home to several interesting species such as nudibranchs, including the yellow nudibranch, and various types of octopus. These smaller inhabitants provide plenty of detail for those practicing their photography.

The local fish populations include jellyfish and various other Mediterranean species that move through the water column and around the reef structures.

The best period for diving in this area is generally up until the 15th of October. During this time, you can take advantage of the seasonal conditions before the turn of the season.
