Subfari Dive Center

Subfari Dive Center is situated on the beach of Portinatx, a quiet locality in the north of Ibiza. The centre is positioned just 20 metres from the water, making the transition from shore to boat seamless for every diver.

Operating primarily from May to October, the centre provides daily diving opportunities. During the winter months, they run weekend trips whenever the local weather conditions allow. The location offers a base to explore the diverse underwater topography of the northern coast, from steep walls to sheltered caves.

The centre is affiliated with SSI and provides a personalised approach to both recreational and technical diving. Their training programmes are designed with a strong focus on safety and individual progression.

Instruction is available for a wide spectrum of divers, ranging from those taking their first breaths underwater to professionals working towards their Divemaster certification. The team manages a diverse curriculum that includes specialised skills like wreck diving, sidemount, and dry suit diving.

The training catalogue is extensive, covering every level of the SSI progression. Beginners can start with Try Dive or Basic Diver, moving through to Open Water Diver and Advanced Adventurer.

For those looking to specialise, the centre offers courses in Wreck Diving, Deep Diver, Navigation, and Perfect Buoyancy. They also provide advanced training such as Decompression Diver, Extended Range, and Extended Range Nitrox.

Professional and technical divers can find specific training in Recreational Sidemount, Equipment Techniques Diver, Dry Suit Diver, and the full Divemaster programme. The centre also teaches technical skills like Search and Recovery and the Science of Diving.

The fleet consists of two semi-rigid boats, measuring 7.50 and 8.50 metres. Both vessels are powered by twin 300hp engines, allowing you to reach the more distant dive sites in less than 20 minutes.

The decks are configured for diver comfort, featuring central cylinder racks for easy loading and large open spaces to allow you to don your kit without feeling cramped. They are also equipped with specialised ladders designed specifically for divers to enter and exit the water easily.

The shore-based facilities include an 80-square-metre indoor area featuring a reception, a small retail boutique, and changing rooms with showers. There is a dedicated zone for equipment assembly and a separate area for rinsing your kit after a dive.

An outdoor terrace overlooks the sea, providing a place to relax between dives. For those looking to extend their technical capabilities, the centre provides Nitrox and supports Trimix diving.

Daily diving is available from May to October. During the winter season, diving is conducted on weekends only, contingent on the weather permitting safe conditions.

The northern part of the island offers a variety of environments, from the sheltered bay of Portinatx to more exposed sites near the cliffs and islets.
