Cats Eye, Musandam: Leopard Shark Encounters in Oman

Cats Eye is situated off Al Khayl Island in Musandam, marked by a conspicuous limestone rock formation with natural holes resembling a cat's eyes, giving the site its name. The dive begins on a very beautiful sloping coral reef that gradually descends to a sandy bottom. This topography provides a diverse habitat, transitioning from vibrant hard coral gardens to open sandy patches, which are key to understanding the site's unique draw.

The primary focus at Cats Eye is the consistent presence of leopard sharks (Stegostoma tigrinum). Unlike many reef dives where a general abundance of fish is the main attraction, this site is specifically renowned as the most reliable location in Musandam to encounter these distinctive benthic predators.
