Ka Djula

Ka Djula is an aparthotel for divers who prefer a proper base to a standard hotel room. Sal Rei gives you a town setting rather than an isolated resort compound. Santa Isabel Square is about half a mile away on foot, and several places to eat sit within roughly a quarter to half a mile. The Cabo Santa Maria Shipwreck is around 2 miles away, giving you a straightforward landmark to add to a non-diving afternoon.

Aristides Pereira International Airport is about 3 miles away by road. The location works well if you want the beach close by and the useful bits of town within walking distance, without turning every meal or short errand into a transfer.

The studios suit a couple who want a manageable base with a large bed, a private bathroom and somewhere outside to sit. Choose the Studio with Terrace or Studio with Balcony when that outdoor space matters to your evening routine; each also has air conditioning, a sofa bed and either a city or sea view. The standard Studio keeps the same independent approach without the named outdoor feature.

For more room to spread out, the One-Bedroom Apartment and Two-Bedroom Apartment make better sense than trying to live around a double bed and a dive bag. The apartments include a living area with a sofa and dining space, giving you somewhere to sit properly rather than perch on the edge of the bed. Family rooms are available, and the apartment layout is the sensible choice when several people need a little separation at the end of the day.

The kitchens are genuinely useful for self-catering: you have a hob, oven, microwave, refrigerator, kettle, kitchenware and dining table. Air conditioning helps after time in warm, salty air, while the wardrobe, linen, towels and drying rack for clothing keep the practical business of travel under control. A flat-screen TV is there for the quiet part of the evening, and the free WiFi is fast enough for video calls and streaming across several devices.

There is a bar on site for the uncomplicated end to the day: sit down, order a drink and let somebody else deal with that part of the evening. The accommodation itself is built around self-catering rather than a stated meal plan, with a dining table and a full set of basic cooking equipment in each unit.

That gives you two workable options after diving. You can pick up what you need and make a quick meal without leaving the building, or walk into Sal Rei for dinner. Kanta Morna Café is about half a mile away for coffee and a change of scenery.

The useful distinction is flexibility. You can eat early, eat late or eat very simply, without tying the evening to a hotel restaurant timetable. The kitchen, refrigerator, kettle and dining area do more for a diver than another decorative statement about cuisine.

The easiest non-diving plan starts outside: walk to Praia de Estoril, continue towards Praia do Ilhéu Sal Rei, or take the longer route along the nearby beaches. You can return to your terrace or balcony afterwards and keep the rest of the afternoon deliberately unambitious. Sometimes that is the activity.

Sal Rei is close enough to make a town wander part of the day. Santa Isabel Square is around half a mile away, and the local restaurants and café give you reasons to leave the apartment without committing to a full excursion. The Cabo Santa Maria Shipwreck, about 2 miles away, offers a more definite destination when you want to see something beyond the immediate beach.

Back at Ka Djula, the sofa, dining area, terrace and air conditioning give you the ingredients for a quiet evening indoors. The lift makes upper-floor access easier, and the property has facilities for disabled guests. No elaborate programme is required: a swim, a meal, a shower and a cool room will do the job after a day in the water.

Check-in runs from 14:30 to 18:00, with your arrival time to be arranged in advance. Check-out is between 10:00 and 11:00. The minimum check-in age is 18, and payment is accepted in cash. Quiet hours run from 23:00 to 07:00, so late-night conversations belong indoors and at a considerate volume.

Free public parking is available on site, with street parking and no reservation option. Car hire is available if you want to explore beyond Sal Rei. Private check-in and check-out keep the arrival process direct, while the lift provides access to the upper floors.

The airport is about 3 miles away by road, making the final transfer relatively short. Free WiFi is available throughout the property, with a stated speed of 62 Mbps, and the accommodation is non-smoking. You can also use the kitchen, refrigerator and dining area to make the stay work around your diving schedule rather than the other way round.
