La Punta, Boa Vista: Drift Diving in Atlantic Currents

La Punta is an exposed reef system off Boa Vista, sculpted by the relentless Atlantic currents. The dive starts on a shallow top at around 10 metres, allowing an immediate impression of the water movement. The reef maintains a compact profile, descending to a maximum depth of 13 metres, predominantly characterised by hard coral structures and rocky relief that serve as anchors against the flow. You'll often find yourself on a drift, moving with the water rather than against it, which shapes the entire dive experience here.

The topography of La Punta is not about dramatic drop-offs or intricate canyons; instead, it is a living example of a reef shaped by high energy. This continuous exposure to current keeps the water clear, offering visibility that can stretch from 15 to 40 metres.
