Cora Cora Maldives is a private-island resort for divers who want the sea close, but also want the rest of the day to have somewhere to go. Beach villas and lagoon villas, an all-inclusive dining concept, a spa, yoga, fitness and several ways to spend an afternoon make this more than a bed beside a dive operation. Families are welcome too, with the CoRa kids® Club and children’s menus across the restaurants.

The resort’s guest-facing information is available in English, French, German, Chinese, Japanese, Korean and Russian. That makes the place clearly geared towards an international audience, although the available staff-language information does not identify which of those languages the hotel team speaks. The tone is informal rather than hushed: coffee, ice cream, snacks, music, films, cooking and art all have their place alongside the more traditional business of lying still in the sun.

You are in Raa Atoll, Maldives, on a private island surrounded by white sand, a lagoon and a house reef. The resort sits directly on the seafront, so the geography is refreshingly simple: your day begins with water, not a road, a taxi or a long walk to find it.

Ifuru Airport is the nearest listed airport, 10 miles away. Madivaru Airport is 35 miles away and Dharavandhoo Airport 37 miles away. The resort is reached by seaplane, which makes the arrival part of the Maldivian logistics rather than a minor transfer from a nearby terminal. Once you arrive, bicycles are available for getting around the island without turning every short journey into an organised event.

The choice is really about where you want the water to sit in your day. A Beach Villa keeps the essentials close to the sand and works for a couple or a small family, while the Beach Private Pool Villa adds your own pool without moving you away from the shore. For two, the Lagoon Villa puts the view and the water directly into the room choice; the private-pool versions are for making the villa itself the afternoon plan.

Travelling as a family gives you more useful separation than a single large room. The two-bedroom beach villas and the two-bedroom beach pool suite offer two bedrooms and two bathrooms, with the larger lagoon option adding a private pool and slide. That is the practical end of family travel: adults can have a little space, children can make their own plans, and nobody needs to negotiate a sofa bed while carrying a wet towel through the room.

Sea views, air conditioning, private bathrooms, balconies or terraces and modern furnishings cover the basics for a proper night’s recovery. Daily housekeeping takes care of the repetitive work, while free WiFi runs throughout the resort. The villas with private pools suit you if you like to come back from the water and disappear into your own space; the beach and lagoon categories suit you if the setting outside the door matters more than adding another body of water to the property.

The all-inclusive formula is built around freedom to choose rather than one dining room doing everything. Tazäa® covers breakfast, lunch and dinner with food inspired by the Spice Route, including a Fisherman’s Catch BBQ buffet in the evening. Acquapazza® brings Italian food to the beach and pool for lunch and dinner, with drinks and music running through the day. Teien® keeps dinner Japanese, with teppanyaki, sushi and kushiyaki experiences; Ginger Moon® draws on the flavours and spirit of Asia’s markets.

There is one named café-bar: MYCOFFEE®. It works from early morning until late at night, serving coffee, tea, ice cream, alcoholic drinks, snacks and other food in an open-air lounge-café. That matters when your appetite arrives at an inconvenient hour, as it often does after diving. You can find something without waiting for the main restaurant timetable to become interested in you.

The kitchen gives particular attention to vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free choices, with special-diet menus available on request. The food philosophy also includes fresh, natural and organic ingredients, gentle cooking methods, plant-based versions of familiar dishes, varied non-alcoholic drinks and coffee roasted on the island in collaboration with Civil Coffee Roasters in Malé. Children get their own menu across the restaurants, including playful ideas such as the Rubik’s Cube menu.

The infinity pool, private beach, white sand and sun loungers cover the part of the afternoon where the correct activity is staying horizontal. Pool and beach towels, outdoor furniture and sun umbrellas make that plan entirely workable. If your legs still have an opinion, the fitness centre, yoga pavilion, fitness classes and Power Yoga offer a more energetic alternative, while the MOKSHA® Spa & Wellbeing Center takes the opposite view.

The spa’s treatments include massages, oriental treatments and sound therapy, with treatments taking place in overwater spa suites. Sound therapy runs from 10:00 to 10:30, and the resort also has a steam room, spa lounge, beauty services and an open-air bath. A couples massage is available when both of you have had enough conversation about who forgot to log the last dive.

For time away from the water, you can take part in cooking classes, local-culture tours, walking tours, art classes and T-shirt Art. Fishing, boat excursions, traditional fishing and the Tsunami Ghost Island excursion add more organised options, while movie nights, live music, themed dinners, table tennis, billiards and the games room keep the evening from depending entirely on the bar. Snorkelling and windsurfing are also available on site, with a kids’ club and children’s play areas for family groups.

Arrival is by seaplane from Malé, with the flight taking approximately 45 minutes. Transfers operate in daylight only, and international flights need to reach Malé before 15:30. Share your international flight and guest details with the resort in good time so the connection can be arranged; delayed information can affect the transfer and may require an overnight stay in Malé. The baggage allowance is 20 kg of checked luggage and 3 kg of hand luggage per person.

Check-in starts at 14:00 and check-out runs until 12:00. You can arrange private check-in and check-out, use luggage storage and reach the front desk around the clock. Airport shuttle and shuttle services are available through the resort. The Cora Cora Maldives app supports pre-check-in and restaurant reservations, which is worth dealing with before arrival rather than while standing in the sun with a phone that has chosen that moment to become unhelpful.

Children of any age are welcome. Cots and extra beds can be requested, subject to the accommodation option, and children’s occupancy should be entered when booking. There is no minimum age for check-in. The resort is non-smoking in its rooms, has a designated smoking area, does not accept pets and accepts cash. WiFi is free throughout the property.
