Plongee Pei

Located on the volcanic island of Réunion, Plongée Péi serves as a gateway to some of the most varied underwater landscapes in the Indian Ocean. Operating from two strategic locations in Saint-Leu and at the Pointe des Galets marina in Le Port, the centre provides easy access to the island's most significant marine sites.

The diving here ranges from shallow reef flats to dramatic vertical drop-offs. Whether you are looking to experience your first breath underwater or are an experienced diver seeking deep wall descents, the centre's dual-base setup allows for a wide variety of marine encounters, including seasonal whale watching.

The team is composed of two qualified instructors, ensuring a high level of supervision and safety for all divers. They maintain a strict ratio of one guide for every three divers, with a maximum capacity of six divers per boat to maintain an intimate and controlled environment.

Affiliated with ANMP, SDI, and FFESSM, the centre provides instruction in French. Their approach focuses on environmental respect and safety, adhering to the standards required for both recreational exploration and technical training.

The training programme is extensive, covering everything from initial Discover Scuba Diving baptisms to advanced professional levels. They offer SDI Open Water Diver courses alongside ANMP certifications such as Niveau 1, Niveau 2, and Niveau 3.

For those looking to deepen their technical skills, the centre provides training for Plongeur Encadré 40 m (PE40) and Plongeur Autonome 20 m (PA20). Professional development is also available through the SDI Dive Master programme and FFESSM RIFAP or ANMP safety and prevention certifications.

The centre operates a boat with a capacity for 6 divers. For double dives, a collation is provided on board to ensure divers are well-rested between descents.

Full equipment hire is available on-site for those not travelling with their own kit. This includes all the necessary components for a complete dive setup.

The facilities at the Saint-Leu base include a car park, as well as changing rooms equipped with showers and toilets. For night dives, torches are available for hire to ensure visibility during nocturnal explorations.

The reefs are home to a vibrant array of tropical fish, including lionfish and various species of moray eels. Divers will also encounter eagle rays and sea turtles as they navigate the various reef structures.

Macro life and smaller inhabitants include octopus and various crustaceans. The marine environment is also a significant habitat for dolphins, which can be observed year-round, and humpback whales, which arrive seasonally from June to October.

While extremely rare, shark observations are possible, though they are not a regular occurrence in these waters.

Water temperatures remain warm, typically starting at 28°C. Divers should note that for any dives involving depths of less than 20 metres, a minimum of 12 hours must pass before flying.
