Bleu Ocean

Bleu Océan is a community-focused dive centre situated in the Port de Plaisance at Saint-Leu, on the island of Réunion. The club is built around a human scale, prioritising a convivial atmosphere and professional safety standards for every outing.

Operating as an FFESSM affiliate, the centre is well-equipped to handle a wide variety of divers, from those looking for their first breath underwater to advanced technical divers. Whether you are exploring the local reef flats or heading out on a larger vessel, the focus remains on the quality of the dive and the expertise of the team.

The team at Bleu Océan is composed of professional instructors known for being reassuring and highly skilled. They manage everything from introductory baptême sessions to advanced professional training for those pursuing careers as dive guides or instructors.

The centre provides a structured environment for learning, offering a comprehensive range of FFESSM qualifications. This includes the full progression from PE levels through to N3, as well as professional training such as BP JEPS, DE JEPS, and Moniteur Fédéral 1er and 2ème degré.

The training programme is extensive, covering the entire FFESSM spectrum. Beginners can start with a baptême or move through the PE (initiation) levels, progressing to N2 and N3 certifications. For those looking to deepen their skills, the centre offers PA (avancé) levels and specialized training like RIFAP.

Technical diving is a significant part of the centre's offering. They provide Nitrox and Nitrox confirmé courses, as well as full rebreather training. This includes training on the AP Diving Inspiration e-CCR, with options for both training without kit rental and training including the CCR itself.

The centre operates a large dive boat that serves as the platform for most excursions. This vessel allows for comfortable trips out to the various sites surrounding Saint-Leu, providing enough space for divers to organise their kit and prepare for the descent.

Nitrox is available on board, making it easier for divers to manage their decompression limits during extended or repetitive dives. The boat's capacity and size make it suitable for both group explorations and more specialised outings.

Bleu Océan provides a complete range of rental equipment, partnering with Beuchat to ensure divers have access to modern, well-maintained kit. This includes everything needed for a full dive, from BCDs and regulators to fins and masks.

For those who prefer to use their own gear, the centre maintains dedicated facilities for kit management. All equipment is kept in a dedicated vehicle located close to the boat at the port, ensuring easy access during the pre-dive ritual.

The marine life around Saint-Leu is characterised by a vibrant coral reef ecosystem. In the shallower areas of the Baie de Saint-Leu, you can encounter various tropical fish, colourful corals, and turtles navigating the reef.

As you move along the reef, rays are also a common sight. The biodiversity is a key draw for both recreational divers and those looking to observe the local marine inhabitants in their natural habitat.

Diving in the Saint-Leu area is influenced by the local topography, with the reef flat providing sheltered environments for shallower dives. Deeper sites like La Pointe au Sel are subject to the conditions of the open coast.

Divers should be prepared for varying levels of experience requirements depending on the site, from the calm, shallow waters of the bay to the more demanding environments found at the 40-metre mark.
