Park Plaza Verudela Pula is a four-star resort beside the Adriatic, set among green surroundings on the Verudela peninsula. It is not a single hotel block with everything squeezed into one corridor: the complex is made up of residential buildings, with cafés, shops, a minimarket, restaurants and a pizzeria spread around the site.

That layout suits divers who do not want every evening to follow the same script. You can eat without leaving the resort, pick up supplies for the kitchenette, sit outside with a coffee or wander down towards the sea. Families have practical space and plenty to do; couples can choose a sea-side apartment and keep the day pleasantly uncomplicated.

You are in Pula, Croatia, at Verudella 11, right beside the Adriatic. The resort has direct access to a stony beach, with sun loungers and parasols available by the shore. Histria Beach is about 300 metres away on foot, while Ambrela Beach and Hawaii Beach are each roughly 850 metres away. Brioni Beach is around 1 km away.

The setting gives you sea and green space without cutting you off from the town. Pula Bus Station is about 3.5 miles away on foot, and the centre of Pula is within reach by car. Roman remains are part of the local scenery rather than a day-trip project: Pula Arena is about 3 miles away by road, while Fort Verudela is roughly 500 metres from the resort. Brijuni National Park is around 8 miles away by road.

The useful distinction here is not a long list of room labels but the way the apartments work. A studio with its king-size bed suits a couple who want a straightforward base, while the one-bedroom apartments give you a separate living arrangement and room for up to four guests. For a larger family or a group who would rather not negotiate every item of dive kit across one small floor plan, the two-bedroom apartments are the sensible choice; some have two bathrooms, which can make mornings considerably less theatrical.

The Premium One-Bedroom Apartment - Sea Side and Premium Two-Bedroom Apartment - Sea Side are the ones to consider when the view matters. A balcony gives you somewhere to sit with a drink and watch the light change over the Adriatic, rather than treating the room as no more than a place to drop your bags.

Every unit has air conditioning, free WiFi, an LCD satellite television, a private bathroom with shower and a fully equipped kitchenette. There is a refrigerator for cold water after a hot, salty day, plus a stovetop, microwave, coffee machine, kettle, kitchenware and a dining table. A seating area and desk make the apartment easier to live in for several days, while the private entrance gives the accommodation more of an apartment feel than a standard hotel room.

Breakfast is included and follows a continental, vegetarian and buffet format, served at the Glavni restoran Verudela from 07:00 to 10:00. Pool Bar & Restaurant Oliva works from its terrace and serves breakfast, lunch and dinner, with fish and meat dishes, seasonal salads, pizzas and pasta. Restoran – Pizzeria Kuglana covers lunch and dinner with pizzas, pasta, fresh fish and meat. Beach Bar & Restaurant “Yacht” sits by the beach and serves local and international dishes for lunch and dinner. Restaurant “Boschetto” is another lunch-and-dinner option, while Burger bar Secondi at Verudela takes the direct route with burgers from lunchtime into the evening.

For the hours when you want coffee rather than a full meal, Espressamente Illy serves coffee from 07:00 to 20:00, and Specialty Coffee at Verudela runs from 08:00 to 14:00. Luna’s lounge & bar stays open from 18:00 to 01:00. There is also a snack bar, a coffee house and a pool bar on site, so you are not forced into a full restaurant meal every time hunger appears.

Three outdoor pools give you an easy alternative to the sea when you want a swim without dealing with stones, fins or a shoreline. Sun loungers and beach chairs are available, with the practical detail that loungers carry an additional charge. The direct beach access remains useful for a quick dip, while the garden and terraces provide somewhere to sit when you have had enough water for one day.

For a more active afternoon, the resort has tennis courts, squash courts, table tennis and mini golf. Tennis equipment and mini golf are available as chargeable activities. Cycling is also available, giving you a way to see more of the peninsula without turning the day into an organised performance.

Families have a kids’ club for children aged 5 to 12, children’s entertainment and babysitting. That matters if you are travelling with younger divers or simply want an hour when nobody needs to be supervised near the pool. For everyone else, the cafés, terraces and outdoor areas make doing very little a perfectly workable plan.

Pula Airport is about 6 miles from the resort by road, with a driving time of roughly 14 minutes. The resort has free public parking on site, including a parking garage, and no reservation is needed. Car hire is available, which is useful if you plan to combine the coast with Pula’s Roman sites or Brijuni National Park.

Check-in starts at 16:00, and check-out runs from 07:00 to 10:00. You need photo identification and a credit card at arrival. Cash is accepted.
