The Preluna Hotel

The mood is lively enough to keep the evening moving. Several other places to eat are within a few steps, including Marrobbio, Masons Bistro and Triton Restaurant, while The Corner Coffee Bar and Park Cafe are about 300 feet away. Qui-Si-Sana Gardens is around 0.4 miles from the hotel, and St Julian’s is about 1.9 miles away. Valletta lies roughly 4.7 miles across the water and historic sights such as the National Museum of Archaeology and Fort St Elmo are within reach for a day away from the coast.

The hotel’s own Beach Club provides direct access to the sea from a natural rocky reef. Fond Ghadir Beach is about 500 feet away, and Qui-Si-Sana Beach is around 900 feet away. Malta International Airport is approximately 3.8 miles from the hotel, with the road journey listed at around 11 minutes.

The room choice matters here because the views change the way you use the hotel. A sea-view room gives you the Mediterranean from the start of the day, while a balcony room adds an outdoor place to sit with a drink rather than balancing it on the bathroom shelf. The Family Room with Sea View is the sensible direction for a group needing separate single beds and more room to spread out. For two people, the Suite with Sea View offers the most space and a separate bathroom.

The smaller twin rooms keep things straightforward, with two single beds and the basic comforts needed for a diving stay. All rooms have air conditioning, a private bathroom with bath or shower, a tea and coffee maker, a satellite flat-screen television and free WiFi. There is also a minibar, wardrobe space and a seating area, so your evening need not be conducted entirely from the edge of the bed.

Air conditioning is useful after a hot, salty day, particularly when you want to dry out and sleep rather than continue negotiating with the Maltese climate. Daily housekeeping keeps the practical side under control. Do note the live construction work nearby, which may affect some units with noise until late 2026; room selection matters if you are a light sleeper.

The main Triton Restaurant continues the buffet approach for lunch and dinner, with Mediterranean sea views, some terrace seating and an open show kitchen. There is more variety than the usual hotel restaurant and bar pairing. Sakura Japanese Cuisine and Lounge serves Japanese food at lunch and dinner from its terrace, while Ichiban Japanese Burgers handles Asian fast food with burgers and snacks. The Skyroom Cocktail Bar & Grill is the place for dinner on a sea-view terrace, with cocktails before the meal. Surf & Turf Grill at the Beach Club serves dinner beside the water from July to September.

Two bars keep the drinks side simple. La Piazza Bar is the main lobby bar for cocktails, wine, spirits and a pre-dinner drink, with evening entertainment several nights a week. The seasonal Pool Bar at the Beach Club adds full bar service, light grills and snacks between June and September. Breakfast, half-board, full-board and all-inclusive arrangements are available, while drinks are not included with dinner when you book a dinner option.

The Beach Club is the obvious place to lose an afternoon without pretending it is a cultural programme. It has a large outdoor salt-water pool, a separate children’s pool, sun loungers, parasols, pool and beach towels, and direct access to the sea from the rocky edge. The club operates from May to October, weather permitting, so its useful season follows the calendar rather than personal optimism.

For a quieter recovery session, Feel Good Wellness Spa has a heated indoor pool with two Jacuzzis, a sauna, steam rooms and a relaxation area. Massages and treatments include facial work, body treatments and several types of massage, including couples massage. Spa facilities are included for hotel clients, while treatments and massages carry an additional charge. The free fitness centre has cardio machines, free weights and weight machines if your legs still have an opinion after diving.

When you want to move rather than soak, the hotel offers water sports including windsurfing, jet skiing, water skiing, canoes and para-kiting, with equipment rental available. Snorkelling is available at the Beach Club, and mini-golf, walking tours, bike tours and cultural excursions provide alternatives on dry land. Live music, performances and evening entertainment are also part of the hotel’s social side.
