Coraya Divers

Located in the southern Red Sea, Coraya Divers operates a well-established network of bases including Coraya Bay, Brayka Bay, Alaya Resort, and Naga Bay, as well as a site in the Philippines. The main base in Coraya Bay is uniquely positioned behind a protected reef, providing a sheltered environment that remains accessible for diving 365 days a year.

The centre is highly regarded for its operational standards, having been recognised with the TAUCHEN-Award on multiple occasions. Whether you are looking for calm, shallow reef flats or want to head offshore to more challenging sites, the centre provides the infrastructure to support both styles of diving.

The operation is supported by a large international team of approximately 80 staff members. This scale allows for a high level of service and a variety of languages, including English, German, and Russian, to assist divers during their stay.

Safety and professional standards are central to their approach, with instructors trained in primary and secondary care. The centre maintains a strict guide-to-diver ratio, ensuring that no more than six divers are under the direct supervision of a single guide during an excursion.

As a PADI affiliated centre, Coraya Divers offers a comprehensive curriculum for all levels of experience. Beginners can start with Discover Scuba Diving or the PADI Scuba Diver course, progressing through to the Open Water Diver and Advanced Open Water Diver certifications.

For those looking to advance their technical skills or professional career, the centre provides PADI Enriched Air (Nitrox), Adventure Diver, Rescue Diver, and Divemaster programmes. They also offer EFR Primary and Secondary Care training, alongside specialised programmes for junior divers.

The centre operates a fleet of four boats to facilitate different types of diving. This includes two speedboats specifically utilised for exploring more rugged or escarpment-style reefs.

For full-day excursions, the boats are equipped to provide a buffet lunch, as well as tea, coffee, and non-alcoholic beverages. Nitrox is available on board for those undertaking extended or multi-dive itineraries.

The centre provides a complete range of rental kit from reputable brands including Mares, Aqua Lung, Suunto, and Kowalski. This includes everything from regulators and BCDs to torches for night dives and specialized equipment like underwater cameras.

On-site facilities include two air-conditioned classrooms for PADI training. For those looking to extend their bottom time, Nitrox is available on-site.

The sheltered waters of Coraya Bay are a reliable place to spot dolphins, manta rays, and dugongs. The reef structure itself is healthy and well-vegetated, providing a home for a wide variety of reef fish.

In the deeper waters and offshore sites like Elphinstone, the focus shifts toward larger pelagic species. Divers often look for the movement of manta rays through the water column or the presence of dolphins cruising the currents.

The Coraya Bay house reef is exceptionally stable, characterized by low swell and weak currents, making it accessible nearly every day of the year. This makes it an ideal location for those practicing buoyancy or conducting training courses.

When heading to offshore sites via boat, conditions can change. The centre uses speedboats to reach more varied terrain, which may involve more significant currents compared to the calm environment of the bay.
