SIRENA BEACH RESORT & SPA is an adults-only resort for travellers who want the sea close, meals organised and the evening available for doing very little at all.

The feel is resort-based rather than small and local: a choice of bars, an all-inclusive arrangement, a spa, entertainment and plenty of space outdoors. You can move from a sea-view balcony to the pool, the beach or the restaurant without having to plan a town expedition every time you need a drink.

Marsa Alam town is about 15 miles away, so the resort works best if you are happy to make the hotel your base. The nearest named restaurant, Momo Asian Restaurant, is about 0.7 miles away, while El Bedouin Arabian Tent is about 17 miles away by road. Shisha Corner is farther out, at about 25 miles by road.

Marsa Alam International Airport is listed at roughly 52 miles from the resort, with a road distance of about 41 miles and a listed driving time of 51 minutes. The practical conclusion is simple: arrange your arrival transport before travelling, then settle in rather than searching for a taxi after a long flight.

The room choice is mainly about how much sea you want and how much room you want around you. A Suite with Sea View is the obvious pick when three people are sharing or when you prefer a separate sitting area rather than stepping around beds and bags. For two, the King Room with Sea View keeps the decision simpler: one large bed, a balcony and the Red Sea in the outlook.

The Double or Twin options are useful if separate beds matter, although the partial sea view gives you less of the headline view. The room cards show the exact layout and sleeping arrangements, so check those carefully before booking rather than assuming that every sea-view room is configured in the same way.

Air conditioning matters here, particularly when you return warm, salty and ready for horizontal time. Rooms also have balconies, private bathrooms, a bath or shower, bathrobes, slippers, a hairdryer, a wardrobe, a sofa or sofa bed and a kettle. Soundproof rooms are available within the property, while free WiFi reaches all areas. Daily housekeeping keeps the room side of the operation straightforward, and room service is available as a chargeable service.

The all-inclusive formula puts the main meals in one place: Sirena Main Restaurant serves breakfast, lunch and dinner in buffet style, with panoramic Red Sea views from its terrace and outdoor setting. Its cooking covers international and local dishes, while the breakfast spread includes continental, Italian, American, vegetarian, vegan, halal and gluten-free choices.

For the evening when you want something more deliberate than a buffet plate, Stars Restaurant serves seafood and Mediterranean food à la carte indoors. That gives you a second dinner setting rather than simply another name for the same meal. After a day in the water, that distinction can be worth having.

Four bars keep the drinks geography uncomplicated. Panorama Beach Bar and Beach Front Bar +14 both focus on cocktails by the shore, Pool Bar adds cocktails and snacks beside the pool, and Reception Bar 24 hrs covers drinks and snacks around the clock. There is also a snack bar, so you are not limited to formal meal times when hunger arrives ahead of schedule.

The easiest non-diving plan is the least demanding one: claim a lounger, use the sun terrace and let the Red Sea do the visual work. An infinity pool, a waterpark, an open-air bath and a hot tub give you several ways to spend the afternoon without putting on fins or carrying anything heavier than a glass.

The Sirena Health Care Center is the more purposeful option. Its facilities include a sauna, steam room, hammam, Jacuzzi and spa relaxation area, with massages, facials, body treatments, body scrubs, wraps and light therapy among the treatments available. Couples massage is offered too, which is a useful detail when one of you wants treatment and the other has already claimed the best chair.

There is a fitness centre for those who still feel the need to exercise, plus table tennis, billiards, darts and hiking. Evening entertainment includes live music or performances, karaoke, a nightclub and DJ, live sports broadcasts and a casino. Tennis equipment, water sports, horse riding and some activities carry an additional charge; the useful point is that the choices exist on site, so you can decide how energetic to be once the dive computer is safely put away.
