Aquasport Al Limite

Located in Santa Marta, Aquasport Al Limite provides access to the vibrant underwater ecosystems of the Colombian Caribbean. The centre operates primarily out of the Santa Marta International Marina, offering a professional gateway to the protected waters of Tayrona National Park.

Whether you are looking to complete your first certification or are a seasoned diver seeking deeper walls and night dives, the centre is structured to handle various experience levels. Their operations focus on the reef systems and rock formations that define this coastal stretch.

The centre is a PADI affiliated facility with a team of qualified instructors, divemasters, and guides. To ensure close supervision and safety, the guide-to-diver ratio is kept to a maximum of four divers per guide.

Beyond standard recreational diving, the team is actively involved in local marine conservation. They organise underwater clean-ups and lionfish hunting activities to help protect the local reef health.

The centre offers a comprehensive catalogue of PADI courses. For those new to the water, they provide Discovery Scuba Diving and Open Water Diver training. The progression continues through Advanced Open Water Diver, Rescue Diver, and the professional Divemaster programme.

Specialised training is also available to refine specific skills, including PADI Nitrox, Deep Diver, Drift Diver, and Night Diver courses. For those interested in technical or hobbyist skills, they offer Underwater Photography, Peak Performance Buoyancy, and Search and Recovery Diver training. They also host the Project A.W.A.R.E. Coral Conservation programme and EFR (Emergency First Response) courses.

The centre utilises a lancha de lujo for its excursions. This vessel provides transport to the various reef sites and rock formations around the bay and the national park. On board, you can find refreshments provided between dives, and the team also offers photography and video services during the trips.

Aquasport Al Limite maintains a full range of rental equipment for divers who do not wish to travel with their own kit. The centre is equipped with its own compressor and cylinder supply to support daily operations.

Nitrox is available for divers looking to extend their bottom time. The facility is designed to be a complete service point, managing everything from gas blending to equipment preparation on-site.

The reefs are defined by a rich tapestry of fixed life, including various species of corals, sponges, and gorgonians. You will find a diverse array of Soft coral (Alcyonacea) and hard corals providing the structure for the entire ecosystem.

In the water column and around the reef structures, you can encounter Great barracuda (Sphyraena barracuda), Lionfish (Pterois volitans), and various species of Angelfish (Pomacanthidae). Large fish and Jacks (Carangidae) are also part of the regular marine life.

For those interested in macro life and smaller organisms, the reefs host a variety of crustaceans including Lobster (Homaridae), crabs, and shrimp. You may also spot an Octopus (Octopus vulgaris), Seahorse (Hippocampus kuda), and various species of Ray (Batoidea).

The water temperature in the area typically ranges between 26°C and 30°C. Divers should plan their trips based on the seasonal availability of certain pelagic species, such as reef sharks and manta rays, which visit the area seasonally.
