Located in Kailua-Kona on the Big Island of Hawai'i, Pacific Rim Divers has been a fixture of the local diving community since 1997. This boutique operation focuses on delivering a relaxed, high-end experience for divers who prefer smaller groups over crowded dive boats.

As a PADI and SSI affiliated centre, they combine decades of local knowledge with a professional approach to safety and marine education. Their focus is on providing a personalised atmosphere where you can truly engage with the unique volcanic coastline and the diverse life it supports.

The team is composed of experts with a strong background in marine biology, ensuring that your time underwater is as educational as it is enjoyable. This expertise allows for a deeper understanding of the ecosystems you encounter, from the reef structure to the behaviour of the pelagics.

Safety and attention to detail are central to their operations, with a strict limit of six divers per guide. This low diver-to-guide ratio ensures that whether you are a student or an experienced diver, you receive the support and instruction necessary for a successful dive.

Pacific Rim Divers offers a range of training programmes through both PADI and SSI. For those beginning their journey, they provide the Open Water Diver course to establish your fundamental skills.

They also support professional progression, offering PADI instructor training for those looking to move into a career in diving. Their educational approach is designed to be thorough, ensuring students gain the confidence required for all subsequent levels of certification.

The Boundless is a custom-built 34-foot aluminium Munson boat, powered by twin 330 HP Volvo engines. Designed specifically for the conditions of the Kona coast, it accommodates up to 12 passengers while maintaining a comfortable, boutique feel.

On board, you will find a shaded deck for relaxing between dives, dedicated sunbathing areas, and a freshwater hot shower to rinse off after your excursion. The vessel is well-equipped for technical needs, featuring a photographer's table, a large rinsing bucket, and USB charging ports. For convenience, the boat also includes marine toilets and a well-stocked snack table.

Full equipment hire is available on request for those not travelling with their own kit. The centre is well-prepared for various diving needs, providing the necessary gear to ensure you are comfortable in the water.

Safety is a priority on shore and at sea, with oxygen safety equipment maintained on board. The facilities are designed to make the transition from boat to shore as seamless as possible, allowing you to focus on your diving.

The waters around Kona are home to an impressive array of large pelagics. You may encounter Hawaiian Green Sea Turtles, Spinner dolphins, and Eagle rays. For those lucky enough to be diving during the right season, whale sightings are a regular highlight.

More substantial encounters include sightings of Manta rays, hammerheads, Tiger sharks, and even Whale sharks. These animals frequent the area, making it a premier destination for those interested in observing large marine life.

Macro life and smaller residents add further depth to the reef experience. You can expect to see a variety of species inhabiting the corals and crevices, contributing to the vibrant ecosystem of the Big Island.

The centre operates daily excursions, including specialised night dives. While specific swell and current data are managed on a trip-by-trip basis, the small-group approach allows the guides to tailor the experience to the local conditions of the day.
