Shopping on 8th Avenue is a six-minute walk away, and Hurley Park is about 0.2 miles from the inn for a short leg-stretch when the beach has done its work. Several restaurants are within roughly a five-minute walk, including Hurricane Seafood Restaurant, Grace Restaurant and Brass Monkey. For a longer outing, Fort De Soto State Park is about 9 miles away, while the museums and pier around St Petersburg are reached by car.

St. Pete-Clearwater International Airport is about 17 miles away, with a stated driving time of around 30 minutes. Tampa International Airport is about 27 miles away. The inn is therefore easy to combine with an airport transfer, but it is not a walk-from-the-terminal sort of arrival — thankfully, few dive holidays are.

The useful feature here is not a long list of room labels but the way the accommodation can work during a beach or dive holiday. There is one named bar: Sunset Bar, a beach bar serving signature cocktails as the light drops over the Gulf. Room service runs on limited hours from 6:30 to 22:00, and continuous snacking is not part of the setup. BBQ facilities are available if you would rather put something on the grill than dress up for dinner — although at this address, dressing up is a fairly relaxed concept.

The beach is the main after-hours occupation, with 200 metres of white sand and the practical kit that makes staying there easier: loungers, parasols, showers and a pavilion. The outdoor Main Pool offers another place to cool off, with a swim-up bar for when moving all the way to the beach feels unnecessarily ambitious.

Serenity Spa covers 100 square metres and offers massages, facials, manicures and pedicures. There is also a fitness centre and yoga studio, with yoga classes for anyone who wants to stretch out properly rather than merely reach for the bottle of water on the bedside table. The garden and outdoor seating provide quieter places to sit between the active parts of the day.

For a change of pace, you can hire a bicycle, take a kayak or paddleboard onto the water, go fishing, or join a boat excursion. Dolphin-watching trips and city tours of St Petersburg are available for days when you want to see more than the underside of the surface. Live music is held at weekends.
