You come here for a beachfront resort with the sea on one side and a surprisingly long list of ways to spend the hours when you are not diving. The setting is polished rather than rustic, with direct access to Wailea Beach, gardens, outdoor spaces and a choice of restaurants on site. You can keep the day as quiet or as busy as you like; nobody is going to force a timetable on you, which is useful when your body has its own ideas after several days in the water.

The resort works particularly well if your companion is not diving, or if you want a proper holiday around the diving rather than a bed placed next to a boat ramp. Tennis, golf, pickleball, cultural activities, family facilities and excursions all sit in the wider offer. You are in Wailea, on Maui, at 3900 Wailea Alanui Drive. The resort is directly on the coast, with golden-sand Wailea Beach on the property. The area combines beaches with golf, tennis, pickleball, dining and boutique shopping. Polo Beach Park is about 0.5 miles away. For a change of scenery, Oanapuka peak is about 2.2 miles away, while Ahihi-Kinau Natural Area Reserve is about 5 miles away. Away from the water, you can play tennis, pickleball or golf, join fitness or yoga classes, take part in a local-culture activity, or book excursions such as Haleakala's summit and the Road to Hana. A games room, kids' club and children's indoor and outdoor play areas make the resort workable for families as well.
