Dip 'N' Scrub, Scrub Island: Wall Diving in the British Virgin Islands

Diving Dip 'N' Scrub begins from the moorings, where you'll find yourself positioned directly above the eastern extension of a prominent wall. This underwater cliff face presents a classic wall dive experience, steadily descending through the water column. The topography is defined by its substantial coral structures, leading you into a deeper exploration of the reef.

As you follow the wall, you'll observe its composition, characterized by large, natural formations. Look for mushroom-shaped corals that extend out from the reef, providing intricate habitats, and pillar corals that rise like ancient columns from the substrate. These hard coral structures are interspersed with abundant soft corals, adding colour and texture to the underwater landscape.

The marine life at Dip 'N' Scrub is diverse and active, particularly within the mid-water and along the reef face. Keep an eye out for dense schools of creole wrasse (Clepticus parrae) and blue chromis (Chromis cyanea) that often congregate in the sunlight near the top of the reef. Their constant movement creates a shimmering spectacle as they feed and navigate the currents.

Beyond the schooling fish, the nooks and crannies of the wall provide excellent opportunities for spotting other resident species. Large lobsters are sometimes found tucked into crevices, their antennae peeking out. While not a constant presence, nurse sharks (Ginglymostoma cirratum) are known to frequent the area, often resting on the sandy bottom near the base of the wall or cruising leisurely along the reef.
