Located directly on Kokomo Beach, Trunkdivers N.V. has been a fixture of the Curaçao diving scene since its founding in 2000. The centre serves as a hub for both local enthusiasts and those visiting the island to experience the Caribbean's unique underwater topography.

The centre's identity is deeply rooted in the local waters, with its founders having spent decades exploring the reefs and wrecks that define the region. This long-term presence ensures that every dive is informed by a genuine understanding of the local marine environment and seasonal shifts.

The team is led by experienced professionals, including Karel and Alex, who bring a wealth of international and local knowledge to the centre. Karel’s history with the island dates back to his early training in the lakes of Reeuwijk, while Alex brings experience from the Maldives and has been a resident instructor on Curaçao since 2007.

Alex serves as an instructor trainer, focusing on providing personalised attention to each diver to ensure skills are mastered correctly. The centre operates with two instructors, ensuring a high standard of guidance for all training and guided dives.

Trunkdivers offers a complete progression of training, starting with the Open Water Diver course and moving through to the Advanced Open Water Diver certification. For those looking to deepen their technical skills, they provide Deep Diver and Wreck specialty courses.

The centre also caters to professional aspirants, offering Divemaster and Instructor Development Courses (IDC). Beyond standard recreational paths, they provide specialised training in areas such as Navigation, Night Diving, and even niche disciplines like Lionfish hunting and Underwater Crime Scene Investigation (U.C.S.I.).

The centre provides a full range of equipment hire for divers who prefer not to travel with their own kit. This includes regulators, BCDs, cylinders, and exposure suits suitable for the local conditions.

Nitrox is available on-site for divers looking to extend their bottom times. The facility is set up to support both recreational and training divers with the necessary gas blending and equipment maintenance.

The reefs around Kokomo Beach are home to a steady variety of pelagics and reef residents. You can expect to encounter Great barracuda, Nurse sharks, and various species of rays. Sea turtles are also frequently seen navigating the coral structures.

For those interested in smaller inhabitants, the area supports a healthy population of seahorses, frogfish, and octopuses. Box crabs and various species of porcupine fish add to the biodiversity found among the reef crevices.

Among the more common sightings are triggerfish, remora, and various species of octopus. The reef environment is also a frequent haunt for eagle rays and large groupers.

Divers should be mindful of the standard safety protocol of not diving within 24 hours of a flight. The local environment is best experienced by following the guidance of your instructor regarding any seasonal shifts in current or swell.
