Tobago Dive Experience

Located in Speyside, Tobago Dive Experience has been a pioneer of local diving for more than 35 years. The centre is positioned perfectly for those looking to explore the island's underwater topography, with 30 to 40 dive sites reachable within 10 minutes of the quay.

This is a multi-faceted establishment designed to be a base for your entire trip. You can stay in the Manta Suites apartments on-site and dine at the Finz by D’ Sea restaurant, meaning you can move from the boat to a meal without leaving the centre.

As a PADI 5 Star dive centre, the facility provides a structured and professional environment for both recreational and professional training. The team manages everything from introductory Discover Scuba Diving sessions to advanced professional programmes.

For those looking to advance their careers, the centre offers full PADI training pathways, including the Divemaster course and even instructor training. The instruction is available through both classroom-based learning and online modules to suit your schedule.

The training catalogue is comprehensive, covering the entire PADI progression. You can start with Discover Scuba Diving if you have never been underwater, or work through the standard Open Water and Advanced Open Water certifications.

For more experienced divers or those pursuing a career, the centre offers Nitrox courses and professional training up to the level of Divemaster and instructor qualifications.

The centre is equipped to support your diving needs with Nitrox available for use. This is particularly useful for extending bottom times during the drift dives that characterise the Tobago region.

For those travelling without their own kit, the centre provides rental equipment to ensure you have everything required for your dives.

The marine life in the Speyside area is diverse, with regular sightings of Manta ray (Mobula alfredi) and Seahorse (Hippocampus). You will often encounter various species of reef fish, including Butterflyfish (Chaetodon), Angelfish (Pomacanthidae), and Blue tang (Acanthurus coeruleus).

Larger animals are a significant draw for the region. Divers frequently see various turtles, including the Hawksbill turtle (Eretmochelys imbricata), as well as stingrays, Eagle ray (Aetobatus), and Spotted eagle ray (Aetobatus narinari). You may also encounter larger pelagics such as Barracuda (Sphyraena), sharks, and various species of snapper (Lutjanidae).

On the reef, the structure is built by various corals and sponges, including Brain coral (Diploria) and Soft coral (Alcyonacea). Look closely at the reef for smaller inhabitants like the Green moray (Gymnothorax funebris), Spiny lobster (Palinuridae), and various crabs and sea urchins.

Diving in Tobago is defined by the movement of the water. All dives in the area are drift dives, ranging from gentle, easy-going currents to more intense, high-energy drift experiences.
