This is the Maldives with the volume turned up: a large island resort spread across Dhigurah, with a 1.5 km house reef, dense tropical vegetation and a beach running around the island. You come here for choice rather than enforced stillness, whether that means a villa with its own pool, a session at the floating water park, a quiet treatment in the jungle or another drink before dinner.

Families, couples and groups all have room to find their own rhythm. The resort’s website is available in English, French, Spanish and Italian, so those four client groups are clearly catered for in the way the property presents itself. The resort itself is designed around a 24-hour all-inclusive stay, with activities and places to eat spread across the island rather than packed into one lobby.

For a diver, that scale cuts both ways. There is plenty to do when you are not underwater, but you are choosing a resort with energy, entertainment and a long list of distractions, not a small hideaway where the loudest event is a teaspoon meeting a coffee cup.

Dhigurah sits in Noonu Atoll, in the Maldives, with Siyam World occupying a 54-hectare natural island. The setting is directly on the sea, beside a lagoon and a white beach fringed with palms and tropical vegetation. Dhigurah Island Beach is about 300 feet away, roughly a one-minute walk, so reaching the sand is a matter of sandals rather than logistics.

The resort is reached through the Maldivian transfer system rather than by road. From Velana International Airport, you can travel by domestic flight to Maafaru International Airport, about 8 miles from the resort, followed by a short speedboat journey of around 15 minutes. A seaplane route from Velana takes about 45 minutes.

There is no town-centre itinerary to plan around here. The island itself is the setting, with beaches, lagoon, house reef, restaurants, bars and activities on site. Other beaches are shown in the wider area, including Sun Siyam Iru Fushi Beach about 2.3 miles away, but this is fundamentally an island-resort stay.

The accommodation is built for people who want the room to be part of the holiday, not merely the place where the regulator bag is abandoned. You can choose between beach villas, lagoon villas, water villas, suites and larger multi-bedroom residences, with private pools and slides appearing across much of the range. The family residences make sense when several people need to share an address without sharing every square inch of it; the two-bedroom and three-bedroom options are aimed squarely at groups.

For two, the Pool Beach Villa keeps the sea close and adds a super-king-size bed, while the Sunset Pool Beach Villa gives you the same broad idea with the evening light as part of the proposition. If the appeal is stepping straight into the lagoon, the Water Villa Pool + Slide is the more obvious choice. The Ocean Villa with Pool + Slide also accommodates three, which is useful for a small family or a couple who prefer a little more room around the daily clutter.

Air conditioning matters in a hot, salt-heavy climate, particularly when you return from a day in the water and want your body temperature to remember what normal feels like. Rooms also have a fan, private bathrooms, towels, bathrobes, toiletries and a hairdryer, along with a kettle, minibar, seating area, desk, wardrobe and terrace or outdoor furniture. Views include the pool and the surrounding island or water, depending on the accommodation. Daily housekeeping, Wi-Fi throughout the resort and room service keep the practical side of the stay reasonably straightforward.

The all-inclusive plan is built around movement: you are not tied to one dining room for every meal. Tempo serves buffet-style international food by the beach from breakfast through dinner, while Baraabaru handles buffet breakfast. Breakfast covers continental, Full English/Irish, vegetarian, halal, Asian, American and buffet choices, which is a useful spread when the first meal of the day has to suit both an early boat schedule and someone who regards breakfast as a serious event.

The wider line-up moves through Mediterranean food at Andalucia, Maldivian dishes at Kaage, Thai and Indian cooking over the water at Takrai and Kurry Leaf, Japanese food at Arigato and seafood in the beach setting of The Wahoo Grill. Barrique takes the fine-dining route in a wine cellar, while The Cube places its international menu in a semi-glass beach setting with regular chef residencies. Plant Based Bliss gives plant-based dining its own place rather than treating it as an afterthought.

There are seven named bars in the resort’s line-up, including adults-only Mint beside an infinity pool, the swim-up Jungali, the social Together and Kulhivaru, which stays open around the clock for sport and karaoke. Good Vibrations puts swings and bean bags in the sand, The Orchid faces the sunset and Shipwrecked combines beach and pool. Unlimited beverages and continuous snacking between meals are part of the all-inclusive set-up, with the main bar also offering a late-night light buffet.

Three named pools give the non-diving hours a clear choice of scenery. Mint is an adults-only infinity pool with a swim-up bar, Jungali Pool is tucked into the island vegetation and The Orchid Pool faces the sunset. Sun loungers, beach chairs, umbrellas and a private beach area make it possible to spend an afternoon doing very little, which remains an underrated activity after several days in a wetsuit.

Veyo Spa sits in the island jungle and combines Thalgo marine cosmetics with massages, facials, body scrubs, wraps, masks and Ayurvedic treatments. Its hydrotherapy area includes plunge pools, a steam room, sauna and Jacuzzi, with options ranging from Swedish and traditional Thai massage to four-hand massage and treatments for pregnancy during the second and third trimesters. Manicure, pedicure and salon services are available as well. The spa is not suitable for infants or children under three.

When sitting still loses its appeal, you can choose Asana Yoga, sunset meditation, tennis, padel tennis, cycling, badminton, billiards or the gym and fitness classes. On the water, paddleboarding, snorkelling, jet skiing and wakeboarding are available, alongside boat excursions and a floating water park with slides, obstacles, trampolines, climbing walls and parkours. There is also horse riding at sunrise or sunset, electric go-karts, electric car hire, island hopping and sunset sailing aboard a traditional dhoni. Airport transfers are available by shared seaplane or by domestic flight followed by speedboat, and should be arranged through the resort. For the domestic route, Maafaru International Airport is about 8 miles away before the boat connection; the seaplane journey from Velana International Airport takes around 45 minutes. Flight details need to reach the resort ahead of arrival so the transfer seat can be arranged. Waiting times at Malé Airport cannot be confirmed in advance, so leave room in the itinerary rather than planning a heroic sprint between terminals.

The listed check-in time is from 14:00 and check-out is until 12:00. Departing guests are transferred to the airport at least three hours before their international flight. International departures from Malé before 09:00 require a transfer late the previous afternoon or a night domestic transfer, with an overnight stay in Malé part of that arrangement.

Transfer luggage allowances are 20 kg of checked luggage and 5 kg of hand luggage per person, with excess weight dealt with directly at the seaplane terminal. The resort has a 24-hour front desk, concierge, tour desk, currency exchange, express and private check-in and check-out, wake-up service and free Wi-Fi throughout. Children of any age are welcome under the booking policy, although children aged 12 and over are charged as adults and cots depend on the chosen accommodation. There are no extra beds. Cash and UnionPay are accepted, and drones are prohibited.

Rent-a-Moke offers electric cars for getting around the island, with the resort describing them as carbon-free vehicles. It is a practical low-emission way to move between the beach, dining venues, pools and activities across a 54-hectare island.
