Freedom Diving Center (meeting point)

Located in Larnaca, Cyprus, Freedom Diving Center has been operating since 2020. The centre is positioned just 10 minutes from Larnaca International Airport, offering a convenient base for those looking to train or explore the Mediterranean.

While the centre is highly specialised in freediving, it also provides access to some of the most significant underwater landmarks in the region. The proximity to the port allows for efficient transit to dive sites located a short distance offshore.

The team is composed of highly experienced instructors and elite athletes. This includes Pavlos Kourtellas, an AIDA Trainer and national record holder, alongside Nela Ukropcova.

Instruction spans the full AIDA spectrum, from introductory levels to the AIDA 4 Master freediver certification. The centre also provides professional instructor training for those looking to advance their career in the sport.

The centre provides a comprehensive range of AIDA certifications. You can work through the levels from AIDA 1 up to the AIDA 4 Master freediver qualification.

For those pursuing a professional career, the centre offers formal instructor training programmes.

The centre operates from the Psarolimano port, with dive sites located approximately 2 km from the shoreline. Reaching the dive locations takes about 10 minutes by boat.

The facility is equipped with advanced safety and training kit. This includes a counterballast system, a sonar for underwater monitoring, and on-site oxygen for safety and training purposes.

The waters around Larnaca are home to a variety of large species. You can encounter Grouper (Epinephelinae), Barracuda (Sphyraena), and various species of Tuna (Thunnus). Other common residents include Amberjack (Seriola), Lionfish (Pterois volitans), and Devil firefish (Pterois miles).

In the seagrass and rocky areas, you will find several types of fish including Triggerfish (Balistidae), Damselfish (Pomacentridae), and various Wrasse (Labridae). You may also spot Soldierfish, Seabream (Sparidae), or even a Seahorse (Hippocampus) among the reef structures.

For those interested in macro life and smaller organisms, the area hosts Nudibranch (Chromodoris willani), Octopus (Octopoda), and various cone snails. You might also observe Bluespotted trumpetfish or Moray eel (Muraenidae) near the reef edges.

The area is accessible for diving throughout the year. The water temperature typically ranges between 17°C and 29°C.
